I'm guessing most people here are afraid of LNG?
Why don't ya take the guesswork out of it and research the entire plan and the associated issues with it.

I'd rather hear thoughts and opinions here, instead of reading a bunch of boring info online.

Besides, in my line of work I've gotten "into" project locations like this, being on the water, and their security, impacts, etc....

I just want to hear the pro/con from members here.

This is a discussion forum, right?

...but there is so much info out there on LNG and how flipping dangerous it is. If an LNG tanker, traveling up the Delaware, caught fire (by terrorism, mechanical failure or w/e) it would be catastrophic.

Just google LNG.... go ahead. We've already read the papers and heard the reports. Just catch up to us and then we can discuss if you'd really like to.

Re: Goodbye and Good Riddence BP LNG....

I don't need to Google it, or read anything. I've been to Port Security meetings, seen reports, etc...

Is everyone against it just because it may be targeted? Explosion, channel blockage, etc?

Or are there other economic, environmental, social, etc issues that TalkDelaware members feel strongly about?

Is it only an LNG terminal you're against? Or any new or expanded terminal?

Obviously, I can't speak for everyone. As for me, my concerns are safety & environmental. It is unlikely that terrorists would blow one up but we've all seen and heard accidents with ships. The area that would be affected by an accident would be huge.... catastrophic.

I'm gathering from your posts that you supported the plan FOR an LNG terminal here?

Thank you for your post.

Well, first off there are degrees of "accidents" that could happen. Running aground wouldn't create an explosion, and the channel could be opened relatively quickly.

Secondly, and I agree with you, it would be unlikely that terrorists would blow up a ship to cause some sort of economic or environmental problem. Otherwise it would have happened by now, since the Delaware River services many terminals, including ones in DE, NJ, and PA.

My posts indicate a more positive viewpoint about an LNG terminal here. But, in actuality, I am neither for nor against the idea, and I did not vote either way in trying to support or oppose the project. I knew about the proposal via work-related information only. I am not in any position to influence anything.

Re: Goodbye and Good Riddence BP LNG....

I was just concerned that there might have been a bad smell created up along the 495, Port of Wilmington area.

Yeah.. Between the landfill and the water treatment plant, it's bad enough around here...

Re: Goodbye and Good Riddence BP LNG....

I was going to say, it already stinks up that way, thanks to the treatment plant, and DuPont. I don't think you'd ever notice an LNG odor over that crap!
