Re: Gardens Does Anyone Have One?

I'm thinking about asking Gt's Mom if I can plant a garden at her place. Problem there is there's groundhogs and rabbits. I'd have to figure out how to keep them out of it.

Re: Gardens Does Anyone Have One?

I have to have chicken wire to keep the ground hogs and rabbits out and 8ft. lattice fence to keep the deer out.

Re: Gardens Does Anyone Have One?

we've had a fenced garden for the last 10 years(keeps out the dogs & critters). I've had lots of luck w/ pole beans, cucumbers, tomatoes, radishes, lettuce & squash. I tried cantaloupe one year, but they stretched across the whole garden & choked out other things. Also, we did potatoes and even though they aren't supposed to, they came back the following year. Also hot peppers and of course, weed! (just kidding...maybe)

Re: Gardens Does Anyone Have One?

I was growing the cucumbers out of large pots. Feeding them every few weeks and by the end of August they started looking like crap. Brown dying leaves and less cucumbers. Any ideas? I'm thinking the roots were getting crowded. Size if pot was about 15" X 15" at the top and about 15" deep. After looking at it, I'll bet the pots were to small. Those sizes are better for tomatos. Never mind.

Re: Gardens Does Anyone Have One?

[quote=boundchaos;65090]Unfortunately, I get no sun on the porch here at the condo, so I'm stuck with just houseplants. However, when we eventually get a house, I am going to plant herbs and flowers.

BC, we live in a condo also, Many years ago I asked the neighbors ifthey minded if I ripped up all the grass in front of the units in our building and put in flowers. Of course no one minded. I paid for it myself but it is beautiful.

This is in front of our condo. No roses or lillies are in bloom yet but it will be soon.
