Re: Gardens Does Anyone Have One?

Unfortunately, I get no sun on the porch here at the condo, so I'm stuck with just houseplants. However, when we eventually get a house, I am going to plant herbs and flowers.

For right now, I raid my friend's garden in the summer... *g*

My mother has a beautiful garden and I quite often "raid" it for flowers. She really isn't too much into the veggie thing...here's a few pics that show a little:

Trust me, I don't have a green thumb and I love lilacs too. I have a couple of them and so does my next door neighbor. Maybe it's where you're getting them from or the size that they are when you get them? I always thought they must be pretty easy since I could keep one alive.
One day this summer I'm going to come over and pick you up and bring you to see my friend's yard. Every freakin' season of the year it looks like a Currier and Ives picture. I'm so jealous! Even her vegetable garden is pretty.

I'm looking to plant a heirloom verity of corn, that yields two to three ears per stalk, and since I have 50 ft per row I'm hoping for a good harvest but I have been down this road before so I have no illusions of breaking the corn bank I'm sure to have a ton of green beens though

my Mom actually has much more flowers than that, but these are the only pics I had because I typically take many more pictures of the kids.

Re: Gardens Does Anyone Have One?

I have 5 huge lilac bushes in my yard. I really cut them back so I hope they bloom a lot this year. I don't usually grow corn. I can get it free across the street. No it isn't feed corn.

Cukes, Zucs, tomatoes, cherry and beefsteak kinds, carrots, radishes a lot of root veggies and Eggplant, cabbage, strawberries.
I have tried blueberries and grapes but I can't keep them alive.
This year I need to start a compost.

Re: Gardens Does Anyone Have One?

We grow a bit of 'most everything common. (lots of mushroom soil and black plastic.) I grew up in the country and then we grew Stowell's Evergreen corn. I don't really have room to do sweet corn justice here. This year I'm going to try to grow Ambrosia cantalopes up over the wood pile. We'll see if the squirrels and racoons let us have any. I do lots of herbs in big pots up on the deck.
