I know a lot of women, and men, but mostly women who have gone through a 'homosexual' phase. I honestly think it's a cry for attention. Mainly MTV's fault for glorifying the homosexual characters on the Real World. Not that I have any problem with homosexuals but MTV has turned the teenaged mind onto the idea that it's trendy to be gay, and it's no big deal to jump ship back to the other side 2-3 months after a homosexual relationship has failed. Mostly I've noticed it's when a heterosexual is emotionally hurt by a lover so deeply that they refuse to trust the opposite sex anymore and feel as though they can get the same love/benefits from a person of the same sex.
