Del. school worker arrested on drug charges
A worker at an elementary school in Wilmington, Delaware has been arrested on numerous drug charges.
Wayne Richard, 33, is a behavioral interventionist at the Harlan Elementary School in Wilmington.
Police had originally identified him as a teacher, but Action News learned he is actually an employee contracted through an outside company called "Positive Directions."
He was arrested on Monday.
Police say they were tipped off that Richard would be delivering cocaine to the area of the Dunleith community. Undercover officers found him in the parking lot of a Shop Rite store.
A police K9 searched the car, and found a Diet Coke can with about 10 grams of cocaine inside, packaged for sale.
Officer say they then searched Richard's home and found five more grams of cocaine, drug paraphernalia, and a handgun.
Richard has been charged with trafficking cocaine, maintaining a dwelling for keeping a controlled substance, maintaining a vehicle for keeping a controlled substance, two counts of possession with the intent to deliver cocaine, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Richard has been arraigned and released after posting a $19,500 secured bail.
The founder of Positive Directions, Sheree Manlove, said Richard passed a background check.
She says until a through investigation can be done Richard's status with the company is uncertain.
