We used to have a PUR filter years ago. This is going to sound really insane but i'm picky about my water. I've been drinking Poland Springs for years and I can't seem to drink anything else. I try and I practically gag. Of course, BJ's doesn't carry Poland Springs so I have to drive to Sam's Club in Dover. I make a trip about every 2 months and buy cases and cases. That is one expense I don't think i'm going to be able to cut especially since all I drink is water.

I do recycle my plastic bottles though.

Re: Food Price Hikes Changing Eating Habits

Ok don't laugh but for years I have tried to eat for under 7.00 a day.
5.00 per dinner, lunches, breakfast just about 1.00 each, just cereal, soup at work etc .
My total for most days was about 7. 00 Why? : I wanted to retire early and pay down
my mortgage. However I did not eat that badly really at all, I usually had steak twice a
week--steak which I bought for 4.99 a pound on sale. No I ate ok. Also there were some
days I went over this amount but only 2.00 or so, and that was no big deal to me. I still
somehow live on only 70 % of my income and still kept a Apt in the DC Metro area and paid
my mortgage on my house in DE.

Now I am retired, saving is done, I am where I planned to be , and can spend more.
Yet I don't think I am. I am eating even better because I have more time to cook and
buy less Subs at take out.

Also I am lucky and live close to a SuperWalmart, "save money live better" yeah I can
be a part of that.
