| | | So i'm looking for some input. I am in the process of looking into booking a hotel down at Ocean City, MD. I don't remember ever staying down there and it has been years since I've been down there. I've kind of narrowed my search to 2 hotels and just wondering if anyone has stayed at either and what it was like. My 2 choices are Carousel Resort and Princess Royale. Any input? Thanks!!

| | | With the Industry that I'm in there are always concerns on where to stay, I'll ask around with the OC folks and see what's on the 'Do Not Stay' list. I'm in OC on Monday for work so I'll get back to you ...

| | | There's a Holiday Inn down there, I *think* on 68th.. It's pinkish in color... They have a poolside bar and the setup is sweet... Not that it's the highest in classiness... Just that it has the poolside bars and some of the coolest bartenders working gave it my two thumbs up..... Oh yeah.. The hotel is nice too....

| | | Just curious, what kind of trip is it? Romantic get away? Time w/family? Shopping? It helps when recommending a hotel. Also, is there a reason you're looking at O.C.?

Also, is there a reason you're looking at O.C.? It's basically just a trip to the beach. NOthing special, just a getaway. I haven't been to Ocean City in years so I figured, why not. I know that I don't want to stay in Rehoboth and I've been to the Jersey shore a zillion times. | | |

| | | I stayed at the Carousel years ago(like, so long ago my opinion is no longer valid). It was really nice. I've never heard of the Princess Royale tho. You'll have to give us a review of whichever one you stay at when you get back. | Re: Ocean City, MD

| | | There are two choices in the 'Princess Group' in OC, the Princess Royale @ 91st Street on the Ocean Side and the Princess Bayside @ 50th Street, obviously on the other side, of the two I would opt for the Royale if given the choice. The 'draw' if anything for the Carousel is the indoor Skating Rink which is open this time of year but not in the Summer. When are you looking to go? Also, are you looking at a Room, a Suite or a Condo at the Carousel? Big differences in size and floor there ... The Stowaway Grand is nice on 17th Street, can't really say the same for a lot of the 'recognizable' named places there on Coastal Highway, most if not all have had 'issues' in some way or another. | | The Following User Says Thank You to M.Opaliski For This Useful Post: | | | |

| | | We are going in May before Memorial weekend. One of the things that drew me to Carousel and Princess Royale was the fact that both had indoor heated pools. I love to swim so this is great. Room wise i'm trying not to be too picky. I know that the Royale has a room available with balcony that overlooks the indoor pool in the atrium which is a plus in my book. | | |

| | | I grew up about 8 miles from OC. I really don't have an opinion about hotels, since my family lives down there, we always have a place to stay for free. The nice thing is being able to bar hop all night long on a $2 dollar bus pass.

| | | I stayed at the Carousel years ago. I though that it was pretty dark and run down.
Never stayed at the Princess Royale.
Both are on ocean side and only about 10 blocks away form each other.
Something I always keep in mind. If it's a trip where I don't plan to be doing much in the hotel except sleeping, I would probably go the less expensive route.
If I was hoping to take advantage of the the hotel's amenities, then I would consider something a bit more luxurious. | Re: Ocean City, MD

| | | This, as per someone that's down there on a daily basis, in and out of most of the Hotels on and around Coastal Highway, someone that sees the behind the scenes stuff that the public isn't aware of I'm told the following ... Avoid the Carousel. Either of the Priness locations is fine (Royale or Bayside), The Stowaway Grand on 21st is fine, Holiday Inn and Suites on 17th is fine, the Boadwalk Plaza at 2nd and the Boards is nice, it's privately owned and was recommended by the person I asked, The Edge and The Lighthouse Club at 60th Street Bayside, both of which are new and owned by the Fager's Island Group, told these are really nice. | | The Following User Says Thank You to M.Opaliski For This Useful Post: | | | |
