I think most of us here agree. But you should see all the comments where I found that article over people saying they should be removed because of the names and you should see the other articles of how the parents were harressed sent tons of hate mail. That hate mail of course went to CPS and lots of other people in that town too.

So with the amount of publicty due to the names and people screaming for something to be done "for the sake of the children and their future" it wouldn't surprise me if they were taken away purely because of their name.

I too think that there must be something more to this than just the names....what parent in their right mind would give their kids names like this anyway? I'm suprised that some one at the department of vital statistics didn't say anything when they received the request for a birth certificate.....are they their legal given names or just what the parents at some point decided they would call them?

It's on thier birth certificates. The website i posted earlier has some pics up of the birth certificates.

Also as far as I know... no name has ever been banned so why would vital statisics say anything. You can name your kid Joseph Stalin or Richard Nixon or even Howdy Doody. I just think no one ever thought of anyone calling their kid Adolph Hitler.

Probably because there is no law dictating what you can or can't name your children, they were not breaking any laws when they named them,they probably had a few choice words for them when they read it but nothing they can do about it.

There are many Hitlers in the USA. I just tried the online phonebook white pages and found 13 Hitlers in NYS and 5 Hitlers in PA. Very popular and common name.

If my last name was Hitler, my number wouldn't be in the phone book.

FLEMINGTON, N.J. — A family court hearing for the parents of three New Jersey children with Nazi-inspired names has been postponed.

Heath and Deborah Campbell were scheduled to appear in court in Hunterdon County on Thursday.


The children, ranging in age from 3 to under 1, were removed from their home Friday by state child welfare officials.


The family drew attention last month when a supermarket bakery refused to put the name of the oldest — Adolf Hitler Campbell — on a birthday cake.


A spokeswoman for the state Division of Youth and Family Services says the state would not remove children from a home simply because of their names.


No date was released for a new hearing. Family court proceedings are not open to the public.

I read some where that the children were removed from the home due to potential harm. The article made it sound like there might have been threats made toward the family due to the names.
