It was heaven sleeping in my own bed again last night. After having the sleep number I don't think I could sleep in a regular bed. I hope you can find a happy solution though!

I'll sell you my queen-sized water bed. No, seriously.
I had to cut the box in half to get it to fit anywhere there were steps. It's held together w/ metal brackets and screws. It has moved around w/ me a few times, even up three flights of steps. No problems. And when assembled, it holds up the weight just fine. Plus, each tube is easily moved around w/out needing to empty it.
The water bed is a soft-side, 8 or 9 tubes model. Really comfy. It takes regular queen-sized sheets.
This is NOT an older style water bed w/ the wooden box where the huge bladder goes inside. This is a regular sized bed, w/ a foam frame held "together" by plastic mesh, bi-directional. Rubber liner inside in case of a leak. Each tube can be adjusted to your soft/hard liking.
Let me know if you're interested. I'm moving and my fiancee loves her mattress too much, so I'll comply and get rid of this one.

Mattress bends and boxspring don't so it does make it a little easier. Been through that one before. With the whole delivery people figuring it out. Somewhere in that little contract you sign for the delivery and everything. It WILL state that if it is to hard of a job to get it where you need it then they reserve the right to not put it where you want it. Or it may cost you some extra cash. I would imagine it will say something like that in the really really fine print. And who really reads those stupid things anyway it just a mattress getting delivered right?

My Mood: | | | Re: What kind of mattress do you have ? I took measurements of the box frame to my waterbed. It measures 79" long and 60" wide. Which I'm pretty sure is a standard queen sized bed. It fits on a standard queen sized metal frame (w/ the center supports as well, for increased support for the water weight).
Would that fit in your sleigh bed Naomi?? |

Would that fit in your sleigh bed Naomi?? | I forgot to measure when we were up there, will do so this weekend Another question Hope had. Is there any chance it can spring a leak? Because we are not up there very often that is a worry. |

My Mood: | | | Re: What kind of mattress do you have ? Well, I guess it could spring a leak, as it is a waterbed. Any water bed could leak.....
But it seems to me that this particular "style" of waterbed has two safeties built-in:
1. There is a layer of thin vinyl/rubber (like a sheet) that goes inside the foam support frame that the tubes rest inside. The idea is, that if a tube springs a leak, this vinyl/rubber sheet could hold the water
2. The waterbed is made up of individual tubes (not one huge bladder). So, if a tube does spring a leak, it's only the water from that tube that'll leak, and not the entire bed.
I've had this bed for at least 11 years. It's been through many moves. Only one tube had ever sprung a leak, so I took it out, wiped up the little bit of water that was laying inside the tube area (hole was on the upper part of the tube, so not much water even got out), and zipped the bed back up. I repaired the tube later, but I didn't even bother putting that tube back into the bed. So the bed is actually still comfy even w/out one of the tubes (which I do still have).
You could double-check the repaired tube for leaks, and put it back into the bed.
I had been worried about leaks and a tube bursting. But I've never had any water on the floor, even w/ a leaking tube.
That's why I like this water bed: less water to lose in a leak, easier to move (keep water in tubes), easier to adjust for two different people, soft-sided (no hard wooden frame to sit on), and it takes regular queen-sized sheets.
Sounds like you may be interested in it. I'll wait to hear from you after you measure things this weekend. | | The Following User Says Thank You to daveindelaware For This Useful Post: | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
