I'm in MORE pain now than I was before I got the damn shots! This is just crazy. I mean whats the point in getting them if this is going to happen?? I'm a little upset about this right now. I have a lot to do this weekend, and I can hardly walk now.

Anyone else ever had these before and did this happen to you too??
Same thing happened to my wife, hence the 11 day stay in the hospital. She couldn't even stand up 5 days after the injection/nerve block. Don't mean to alarm you but everybody reacts differently, so I'm told. To this day, we're still trying to isolate the problem. This past week has been bad for her. Good luck, I wouldn't wish back problems on my worst enemy. You would think nowadays they'd be better at finding the source. So far they haven't told us anything we don't already know. Shouldn't, supposed, maybe, Doc, We need something a little more definite.

Re: Spinal Injections

UPDATE:
The same night I got the injections (Friday, the 15th), I fell down my stairs, missed the top one , landed on my butt, and hit every single one on the way down. Scared me, but at time, thee as no pain.

Until Tuesday, I started feeling a little discomfort. Wednesday the pain got a little worse. That was also my physical therapy day. My therapist decided since it seemed my lower back was responding well enough to the therapy program I'd been on, that she'd begin working on my left hip.

This it the hip the had the compression fracture 12 years ago when I was t-boned in my car, and has been causing me pain ever since. Tramadol is all I'd take, because even though it's additive, it's not as hard to quit a s as Percocet or other narcs.

So, she had me lay on my right side and began PUSHING as hard as she could with her very very bony thumbs, right along the scar and under it and into my iliac which is also mostly metal from the pelvic-ring anterior and iliac reconstruction. I told her I couldn't stand it, it was just too much pain, to which she' reply "It'll subside". I got up off the table and said its not subsiding you just cant do this one, sorry. She tried to tell me she was checking for lumps.

Tried to see my doctor Friday and couldn't see her for a week, So I toughed it out for the weekend, didn't wanna ruin GT's birthday Saturday, but by Sunday, I was done, I just couldn't handle anymore.

Went to the ER, took registration over an hour. Didn't see a nurse for 45 minutes then saw a doctor in another half an hour who had them pump me full of morphine toradol, and Valium., and checked me for kidney stones. KIDNEY STONES>?? After everything I'd told him, he checked me for kidney stones. Of course the test came back negative, he asked if the meds helped "Ive never seen anyone in that much pain be able to got to sleep." I said I wasn't asleep, but the stuff relaxed me and since I'd been awake every night from pain for almost a week, yeah, it was no wonder, but I wasn't asleep.

I asked him for Xrays, he said my doc had to order those. So I saw her replacement and and she asked if the mads were helping, I said no they werent much at all. Then she got a smarmy tone "Im NOT writing you any more meds, you have a contract with pain management," to which I replied, I just want Xrays or something, because I know my body and I kno something is wrong I can feel it!

She ordered Xrays, said there was nothing wrong that hasnt been there for years. Didnt even xall me hgerself had a nurse do it.

I called my pain management doctor, told her everything I did, everything thatr was done abd she was petty yp set thatr nonobody was taking me seriously, She ordered three MTS, one lumbar , one pelvis and oine hip. Wrote me stronger meds and told me to stay on bed rest til she hs a chnce to see the MRI's Tusday.

Re: Spinal Injections

Decent, I started to feel physically angry when reading your last post. How can they not take you seriously? AARRGGHH! I've had a few times when I've felt that the docs haven't taken me seriously. I usually wait until the last possible moment to go to the doctor, so to be blown off ("Oh you're just tired because you have children") really pisses me off.

I hope that you are getting the attention and treatment you deserve, and that your pain is being treated seriously. Kidney stones? WTF?

Have you been able to see your Xrays yet?

Decent....I, too, am very concerned about your back pain. I mean, you didn't need to fall down the steps, in addition to the existing problem. But, I can relate to the stairs thing, as I fell backwards and slid down 12 steps last year. I KNOW how that hurt, but with your other problem....WOW! My heart really goes out to you. I have nothing to suggest, but I do send my prayers for your speedy recovery, and/or the doctors to help you with this pain and an accurate diagnosis. That's just too much!

Re: Spinal Injections

Best wishes, Decent! And hopefully it's a problem that can be solved without too much trouble.

In the meantime, make sure your DVD player is in working order and that you've got a killer supply of movies to watch.

If nothing else, you've got TD to keep an eye on

Thumbs up Re: Spinal Injections

What is wrong with your back that you have to have injections? I recently found out I have Syringomyelia. It is rare. It is cysts (syrinx) that grow in the spinal cord. The pain is sometimes unbearable. I also have arthritis in my spine. Between the two I want to pull my hair out, but I don't think I would look good bald. LOL If an injection would help me, I would be more than happy to endure a needle. But I understand some people are terrified of needles. I hope your problem gets better.

Hey Decent - How are things coming along for you? I hope that you're in less pain and that you have some answers.

Re: Spinal Injections

The new MRI's showed nothing new. No more fractures, etc, just the same injuries I've been dealing with. The pain that I was having so bad I could hqardly walk has now dissipated, back to the normal pain I live with in a daily basis, so, thats a good thing. I guess. We're thinking it was a combination of the stair-fall and what the therapist did. So, I'm being more careful on the stairs and finding a new physical therapist who isnt probably a direct descendent of the Marqui-De-Sade.
