I almost killed someone

I was on doe run rd and I was driving slower then normal(only 5 over the speed limit vs 20) on this paticular road...in my box truck...a guy makes his turn from yeatmans mill rd...and can't seem to keep his bike under control...and he lays his bike down with it taking up a third of my lane...I managed to slam on my brakes and was able to go into the grass on this very narrow road...the guy held his hands up saying no as we both thought he was dead...


everyone I can't stress enough...watch for people on motorcycles...I don't know about them...but anything can happen as with this scenario....he wasn't going fast at all...

I don't expect you guys to be as cautious as I am due to the fact I drive for a living...and have been for 6 years...

please be aware of your surroundings and keep an eye on that bike...until you are certain you can no longer endager their life...


call...tell...and show your loved ones that you love them...and make sure they know...sometimes people do forget...we all have a tendency to forget what's really important...

thanks everyone..im not an emotional dude...but im almost in tears...cause its like whether it was my fault or not...I almost killed that guy...took his life...however you want to word it...if I wasn't there it wouldn't have been an issue...

and yes im very aware of bikes and everything else...I drive 60 hrs a week professionally...and another 10 to 12 hrs a week...just getting to work...so I guess it comes with the territory...I just keep thinking...it could be my fiancee or someone I love on that bike...


the old lady has been wanting a bike for awhile...and now...ill be damned if shell get one...

A friend I used to work with rode all the time with his wife. They got hit. He said when I raised my head to look for her I thought she was dead. They both recovered from major injuries. He swore he would not ride again as long as she was living. The sight of her lying in the road will haunt him always. He used to drive for a living too.

i wish there were more people out there that pay as much attention to bikes as you do. i ride my bike everyday to work, and everyday drivers make me nervous.
thanks for the post. even though it's not the same situation, it's still a good reminder to pay attention to all bikes. i am truly glad you and the biker are okay.
