My Mood: | | Want to find housemate for Dover house... If this is not allowed here please let me know-I do not wish to spam or anything...but hey I have already shown my annoying side here so at least can't pretend to be all sugary sweet...
but anyhoo-if I can put info here about a house share that would be super...I'm just moving in so perfect timing for someone to get me before I get too set in my ways. I am not in any rush so just trying to look word of mouth and hope for the right person to tolerate me.
great house but I won't likely swing it alone for long. Lots of space. I know I am new here but of course that's a why I gotta find a roomie-and don't know tons of people and my sister mainly knows people under 12...being a mom 'n' stuff. She's the one who sent me to this site-but she is vewy quiet and not so outspoken. not sure she has owned up to being related.
I have a photo page set up for the house-if someone is interested they can email me for more info. If this sort of listing is ok I will just edit this post and add the info etc-have listings on basic roommate places but not very much listed for this area and to contact is a charge and with such a limited base I just didn't want to throw money away-was not much there for this area (Dover) to even contact anyone. I really stink at stuff like this.
thanks muches!
Alex

Post away and good luck on the roomie

I in no way wish to spam - and yeah I'll likely run my mouth on occasion - off and on- unless I am asked to leave...never actually happened cause I do try to follow rules if I choose to play on someone else's playground I will follow the rules as best I can.
email for pics Quote:
Roommate needed for wonderful older downtown Dover 2 BR home-one of the bedrooms connects to a mostly unfinished attic loft thing which is carpeted.
I have just moved in so how the house is shared is open to negotiation.
I have cable high speed internet set up which likely could be networked if cost of service shared. I do not have a TV and don't plan to get cable on my own but there is at least one cable line in one bedroom if someone wanted to get it hooked up.
2 Bedrooms and 1 full bathroom (only bathroom) upstairs.
Large Kitchen, Library, Living room, enclosed porch off of LR with all windows. Side porch enclosed and converted into a long laundry/utility room - lots of counter and cabinet space and windows.
Carpet throughout (except kitchen). Some furniture already present-I am an addict to treasure hunts for stuff (flea markets/thrift/garage sale/auctions) so do often bring unexpected finds home a lot-I sell some of it. Many windows.
W/D, there are window air conditioners for bedrooms and also one downstairs-the last tenant did not use them much and I did not plan to either except maybe bedrooms on especially hot nights. Fine with me if someone wants to use it in their room more often if ya want to pay for increased electric-the downstairs is apparently easily kept comfortable. Gas heat, stove, hot water.
Great backyard with patio and pond that just needs a tiny bit of clean up-really very little-mostly leaves in garden beds-tons of bird feeders and occupied birdhouses, privacy fence and huge separate garage.
Nice neighborhood-can walk to Wesley College (can see it from back yard), silver lake park, downtown. Very quiet street, nice neighbors.
I have a 50# 1-1/2 year old dog- I myself am just moving in so if I find the right person we could set it up as suits us. Very nice landlord and maintenance contract.
Rent is $450 and $450 damage deposit (would sign lease with landlord) plus 1/2 any utilities. If someone just wants a room I would maybe be able to work out some other rate-I just wish to be comfortable and feel at home. This is a great deal for the house but I do need to share cost at this time-I aim to live here long term.
I, myself, am female, do digital art/photography, sometimes smoke cigarettes outside only. I would get along best with someone artistic or creative, liberal sorts encouraged to apply, I am in no way the "professional" type. Students fine-but no heavy drinking/parties. I like to have people over and my sister and kids are here often-but do prefer privacy so not a fan of the "pop-in", invited planned guests are welcome and people I get to know who they are-like someone you are close to. I'm not really uptight about many things that other people are but the opposite is true also. As long as mutual respect is present. Up-front honesty works best in my view. if you are interested in more info please email me...I have a photo page for the house. Tell me something about yourself and I can send pictures and details if it seems like something you might like. | |

My Mood: | | | Re: Want to find housemate for Dover house... I would suggest posting an ad on roommates.com. My roommate found me on there and moved in with me in January. He's the best roomie ever-we've turned into great friends and plan on living together for awhile. Also-who got locked and deleted???? I obviously haven't been on here much lately (been really busy!) so it looks like I missed something??? |

My Mood: | | | Re: Want to find housemate for Dover house... I did post on roommates.com but there is a charge to read mail and for the dover area a very limited number of people so the charge did not seem reasonable-most of the ones listed were also obviously not going to work so seemed no point-same with a few of the other pay roommate sites-and craigslist - just not much activity in delaware outside newark/wilmington area.
I live on a very tight budget and to be honest even the 3 day trial at $6 is too much for me atm.
But hearing that you used it successfully is at least encouraging-I've never known anyone for years who used anything but craigslist or alternative press papers...like Baltimore City Paper-which we don't seem to have here.
I just thought it was a way to take people's money online-never heard of paying to find a roommate outside paper listings. Did you pay for the service? just curious. Maybe I would have try it if it seems the only way. Thank you so much for the info |

My Mood: | | | Re: Want to find housemate for Dover house... Yes, I actually had to pay twice. It took me awhile to find someone and actually met a few nutcases before I found this guy, but it was worth the wait. As a female, you have to be very cautious!!! I met a few guys who wanted a girlfriend, not a roommate!!! I actually had one guy send me a text message to my cell that said "I don't think it will work out being roommates because I just wanted to bone you" Who the hell says that to a girl?!?!?!
