| | | for the record, I really don't care what people spend their money on,
it's their choice. I don't pass judgment on conspicuous consumption
(unless you drive a Hummer, then it irks me a bit...but that's another
debate),....
BUT, I do find it utterly ironic (and LOL-worthy) that a lot of purses
women carry cost more than the actual contents of the purse. I said
this to my wife long ago and received the "you're a jerk" look. Oh well,
I tried! | | The Following 3 Users Say Thank You to Bada Bing For This Useful Post:

| | | I REALLY love a nice bag but it takes me MONTHS to find one that I really like. I see alot I like but for me, it's a committment of money and don't want to invest great deals of money on something that I won't like in a month.
I have a lovely black coach bag I got at the outlet a few years ago. It's great and the perfect "go to" bag. Not too big or small.
DH just got me a great Coach bag for my birthday. I never would have bought it for my self (the price gives me palpitations!) but I really love the bag.

| | | well, yea Demoa,
the rule of thumb for retailing is try your best to double your cost..
<cost 50, sell it for 100
that way returns and exchanges dont hurt as much..
but with coach.. :-/
BEST case scenario, their cost is 50 (per bag)-maybe 100 and they charge 499
thats alot more than a 50-100% markup..
when I used to sell shutters from hunter douglas, I would double the cost for people
I like and triple for the those that could afford it..
and they loved it..
that way.. if I measured wrong or messed up the install..
I wasnt loosing anything but my install time..
but coach takes it to the extreme..
and dont get me wrong.. I dont deny my woman coach.. it makes her happy
and in turn, it makes me happy.. :-D
I still remember the first time she walked into coach and actually bought one (rather than just window shopping)
I just think its insane what they charge for those things..
and granted.. the quality is 1 maybe 2 notches above your standard Kmart bag..
but like Decent said.. with a 10 dollar bag.. when it gets trashed..
throw it away.. buy 10 new ones.. your still saving 400 dollars..
and you have LOTS of colors/styles to choose.. :-D

| | I actually find Coach to be one of the more affordable higher-end handbags.
Case in point. Designer Designer Handbags at Bluefly

think about the markup on diamonds.....lmao geez...that's a whole other topic. I'm soooo not a jewelry person. I like white gold. I wear white gold earrings every day and that's about it. However, some day (I'll never get married again, I feel it's legalized slavery, but again that's a WHOLE other thread) I'd like to be in a committed relationship and maybe like to have a diamond but then there's the whole diamond mine thing and the ethics behind that.
