My Mood: | | Timothy's on the Waterfront I used to be a regular at Timothy's, so I was looking forward to a return visit after the Blue Rocks game last night. Large screen TV's on the one side of the bar looked like they might have been upgraded to HD. The fish tank in the middle was familiar, but smaller fish than I remember. A somewhat cheery bartender greeted us, took our drink order, and then I remembered why I stopped being a regular....tepid, barely chilled beer. Bearable, but not desirable. Three different beers, all the same temperature.
OK, but their wings are awesome...still! The lack of attention to empty glasses by the bartender was a shame. There were maybe 8 people at the bar, and the bartender was more intent on conversing with her co-workers than taking care of customers. Bad service is one thing - bad service on a slow night is another.
With the Blue Rocks season drawing to an end and nothing else (other than Iron Hill Brewery) to draw me to the waterfront, I suppose that I'll wait until next year before giving Timothy's another shot. |

My Mood: | | | Re: Timothy's on the Waterfront Raptor,
I've eaten at Timothy's twice, and quite frankly both meals were sub-par. It seemed like nothing more than pre-fabricated Sysco Co. food. There was no imagination. I realize it's a pub, but it doesn't take the best chef in the world to make decent pub food. In fact I really had a hard time finding something on the menu, and I am a person that can eat anything. But to be fair I haven't been there in awhile.
A comment on service on a slow night,... My experience is I get the best service when it's busy. Maybe the person is more focused? It seems when the bar isn't crowded, or the restaurant, servers feel they can relax a little bit, and they let their guard down. Just my personal observation.

My Mood: | | | Re: Timothy's on the Waterfront My sister, daughter and I used to go to the Riverfront at least twice a month. Since the Lillian Vernon outlet closed, it's not as much fun as it used to be. Hopefully, those lovely condos they're building will induce more stores to open up. Then maybe Timothys will step up to the plate.

| | | Re: Timothy's on the Waterfront I was at Timothy's last Sunday. Got an order of buffalo wings. I've had much better. They had way to much salt which ruined the taste. I would have said something but I got the order to go.

I hear ya....I think you're right - the busiest times usually are when service is best, and probably due to the focus and lack of lolly-gagging!
Chase,
No Prob...other than wild birds and Philly Sports, food and food stuffs are my favorite topics! My wife and I get out a lot, and I like to share my thoughts on the places we visit. I also write letters to the businesses that show exceptional or abysmal service - some businesses, like Goodyear @ TriState Mall don't care...others, like Jiffy Lube @ Northtowne Plaza take comments from customers seriously and make adjustments or at least say "thank you". I feel a visit to Stanley's and the new restaurant in Carpenter Plaza "The Reef" in the near future. | | The Following User Says Thank You to Raptor For This Useful Post: | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
