| | I've been searching for a few good outdoor eating establishments in the N. Wilmington area.
We used to enjoy the outdoor patio at the Front Porch on Philadelphia Pike. Very casual, relaxing, with great steamed shrimp and cold beer. Then it burned down.
I know Buckley's has a nice patio but I'm looking for a more casual place to chill out and relax for a bit (maybe even with my kids). There's Scratch Magoo's for the younger, single crowd and Catherine Rooney's is right on the road (can you say car exhaust and cigarette smoke?) Sussex county has plenty of places that fill my request.....
...but are there any places up north?
Maybe they've all been turned into smoking areas...
Any thoughts, Raptor??? | | The Following User Says Thank You to hockey For This Useful Post: | | Re: Local outdoor cafe style eats?

| | Not sure about North but.... I do know that the Chesapeake Inn in Chesapeake City, MD has a FABULOUS deck. I love it there.... Welcome to The Chesapeake Inn Website

| | | Unfortunately, I know nothing about up north... There are a bunch of places in Newark with great patio seating (the best being Timothy's on Paper Mill Road). | | The Following User Says Thank You to witchofthedogs For This Useful Post: | | Re: Local outdoor cafe style eats?

Sometimes I'll walk/ jog up to BTC and around the ponds and I haven't seen anyone actually eating out on that patio yet.
Thanks, Raptor..... maybe we can get a TD event to travel north for us. **hint hint** | Re: Local outdoor cafe style eats?

| | The Washington St. Ale house used to have a deck but they built it in to create more indoor seating. Shame, we enjoyed it.
Minus the rudeness of the passers by, walking up to the deck and asking for cigarettes or even one time some guy asked the 2 ladies next to us for a drink of their water. Unbelievable...
Houlihans by Christiana Mall and Friday's on Concord Pike have decks but I'm not crazy about their food.
Iron Hill on the waterfront is nice, but limited typical beer choices due to it being a micro brew.
One place that is out of the way and a bit fancier than what you are looking for is The Half Moon Resturaunt in Kennett PA. It's actually called 'rooftop dining' vs. a deck but still enjoyable, especially in the late in the evening into night (bring your sunglasses for the setting of the sun). They specialize in out of the ordinary cuts of meat. I really enjoy the Buffalo burger (Buffalo the animal, not the wing sauce). Also over 27 types of beer.
Come to think of it, probably not the best place to bring kids. More suited for couples.
Ok, so after thinnking about it, it isn't what you are looking for but still nice and worth mentioning. I digress...

| | | If you're willing to cross the border to PA, MacKenzie's brew pub on 202 has a deck, and I have to say, the food is pretty good. Haven't experimented with all of their beers.... but hey, it's beer right? | | The Following User Says Thank You to Bada Bing For This Useful Post: | | Re: Local outdoor cafe style eats?

Thanks, Raptor..... maybe we can get a TD event to travel north for us. **hint hint** My wife and I went out Weds evening and the outdoor area was pretty full...I don't think they'd mind just drinks...although service wasn't that great on the inside, so I can only imagine what it would be like on the outside...doesn't bother me though, I have no problem embarrassing staff that sucks by going to the bar and getting my own drinks.
I'm game any nite next week if any northerners (or anyone else) want to meet and hang out. | | The Following 2 Users Say Thank You to Raptor For This Useful Post: | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
