I was at the Exchange on Fri nite....maybe we had an off night or something because the service was lacking. My "Dark And Stormy" was neither...The 1/2 price margarita was mostly ice, and a VERY dirty martini wasn't dirty at all...we do family style when we go out so we worked the menu pretty good...on starters, the popcorn shrimp was fishy...the lettuce wraps weren't wrapable...the chicken skewer was good...and while there was no trace of poblano peppers in the nachos, they were darn tasty.
On the main's...the ribs fell off the bone - I thought the best of what we ordered; the two beef dishes were prepared as asked, but the bernaise sauce for the filet was weak-I've mixed better myself from an envelope off the shelf at ACME and the rib-eye had a little too much gristle (marbling is good, gristle is bad)...the catfish was dry and needed the psuedo wing sauce.
And for dessert...the banana split was common...DQ does a better job. The carrot cake was chock full of nuts, but a little dry. The thick chocolate no-bake cake was the best of what we tried...
Not a whole lot of inventiveness by the chef which was disappointing. The wine list was interesting, I'm into the South American vineyards - reasonable too. After being disappointed by our initial drinks, perhaps we should have explored the wine list more. I believe the quote of the night from one of my companions was, "you can't fix stupid".
For the money, you're better off at Costas, Moro, Culinaria, Dome, or Harry's.
