| | | My fiancee and I recently tried Hot Plate. It's located in the old Denny's that went belly-up recently, at Route 13 & Boulden Blvd.
It has the same furniture, but a slightly different decoration choice (Marilyn Monroe, older Rock-n-Roll photos, etc). Think "Hollywood Grill" but toned down... plus lots more hanging plants. LOL.
Let me tell you, the service is excellent! Which is the total opposite from when it was a Denny's (probably one reason the place died). Our waitress was on-the-ball w/ drink refills, asking us how our meal was... even the manager came out to check on us.
The food was really good, too. I had breakfast, and it was VERY yummy and filling. Their breakfast menu is limited (unlike IHOP, etc), but available all the time IIRC. My fiancee had the chicken finger panini, and she absolutely LOVED it - and it was huge!
I would recommend this place to anyone, even just to try it once. I don't think you'll be disappointed. I have no complaints about the place, or my experience there.

| | | I went there with my friend. we ordered a appitizer sampler. It was easy to tell that it was from frozen and cooked at the wrong tempreature because everything was greasy and the all had the same fry color.
I ordered the pretzel burger and my friend ordered a cheese burger. My burger was nothing special and the soft pretzel it was put on did not taste like a real pretzel.
While we were there, severalk customers would come in, look at the menu and leave.
Maybe they have gotten better now that they have been open for a while, but I did not like it there and felt they were overpriced for the quality of food.
I would not go back anytime soon, but you may like it.. | Re: Hot Plate Family Restaurant

| | | wow. I'm sorry to hear about your experience there, paulusa302.
I've been there again recently, with a group of about 12 others (for a monthly meeting). I heard that someone's steak dinner was delicious. And the nachos was a gigantic plate of goodness (easily handled between 2+ people). Most of us had breakfast food there. I didn't hear anyone complain or dislike the food, nor the prices....
We'll all go back there again because everyone in the group seemed to like the place. Plus, Hot Plate is 2nd amendment friendly! | Re: Hot Plate Family Restaurant

| | | We went to dinner there last night and it was awesome. There were 10 of us and the service and food were great! There was so much food! We brought home so many left overs that we had enough for lunch today. I highly recommend it, there is so much to choose from on the menu too.

| | | I used to live in New Castle and my friend worked at the old Denny's. All the hookers that used to hang around the WaWa and 7-11 used to come in to use the bathroom. I guess to "freshen up." Then they caught 2 girls smoking crack in the bathroom.
They almost decided to keep the bathrooms locked and to open them only when a customer needed to use them. | Re: Hot Plate Family Restaurant

NOTHING.
do we need to categorize the whole section of 13 just a horrible place cause there are hookers there? there are hookers at a lot of places all around the world, so what? I happen to live spitting distance from this place and I can tell you first hand, sure i see some girls out, but it's not crawling with hookers like people make it out to be....
stay on topic please, thanks.

| | | That has everything to do with this new restaurant!!!!!
Um, all I'm saying is that this new restaurant is just going to turn into the old Denny's. So what if the food is good? If the atmosphere sucks, I'm not going to waste my money there. It just opened. Give it time. It will eventually go down the drain.
I'm not a pessamistic person. I just see how things are. You can change names of things, but if it's still in a crappy area, it's gonna turn crappy. | | The Following User Says Thank You to wcivalleygirl For This Useful Post: | | Re: Hot Plate Family Restaurant
