My Mood: | | | Harry's Savoy Grill OK, Harry's has been around for like 20 years. They just remodeled last year and they bungled a simple dish (over-cooked NYStrip) on my last visit. Their service is always impeccable, so of course, my over-cook steak didn't cost me anything (and they replaced it with one that was slightly less charred).
So, last week, my wife and I were celebrating (she got a new job, yay!)...so we decided to give Harry's Savoy another go (I'm not a fan of the Seafood Grill at the waterfront - only had one REALLY good meal there in 5 tries plus too much of a fishy scent for a place that makes fresh(?) sushi)...
Anyway, Thursday night, at the bar (Savoy Grill on Naamans Rd), is $1 oyster nite. HOLY SPIT! If you like oysters, they have 6-8 different varieties with excellent descriptions of what to expect. And, they started a "small plate" menu for the bar...sliders, mini-prime rib sandwichs, tuna cevieche (I don't know how to spell it, but it's "raw" seafood "cooked" in citrus juices), buffalo tenders, and more....normally when my wife and I do a sit-down at Harry's it's $125...at the bar it was $79 (which was basically 2 dozen oysters, one of everything on the small plate menu, and 5 beers). Plus big screen high-def TVs to catch the Flyers (although they lost that night!).

It's definitely nice...but too pricey for my taste.
For half the cost and all the taste, I go to Texas Roadhouse.
Nowhere near as refined, but neither are we
I do know that I'd probably make more money waiting tables at Harry's than I currently do.
I'm not a complainer at restaurants IN THE LEAST. I spent 3 years as a waiter...I ALWAYS overtip...I NEVER complain....
But if I'm paying Harry's prices for a steak, it better be PERFECT. (Or at least at the doneness I ordered it)
At least they comped it. That's classy. | | The Following User Says Thank You to Kid Lester For This Useful Post:

My Mood: | | | Re: Harry's Savoy Grill It wasn't all that big (3-4 bites maybe), but only $3 per portion...and with fresh tortilla chips (and some other root veggie that had no taste)..... |

There's nothing like a little slimy ball saturated in lemon juice, horseradish, and other sauces to get the juices going....I didn't like them until I quit smoking 14 years ago....perhaps they reminded me of the lung chunks I was coughing up.... | | The Following 2 Users Say Thank You to Raptor For This Useful Post:
