Re: Favorite Sub shops in Delaware

Nutter's on 273 near the MD line IS very good.

Mike's Famous Steak Shop at 4 and Salem Church is/was AWESOME. Don't know if they're still open.

Same thing with Claymont Steak Shop. The best I ever had, period. Don't know if they're open, either.

DiCostanza's went out of business when they catered that Winterthur event. Bad mayo or bad meat, or something. Damn shame.

I go to Capriotti's for my subs and Valle Pizza for my cheesesteaks. Valle's makes the best steak I've ever had in the Pike Creek area. They're still on my naughty list for sending me home with a cheesesteak when I ordered a steak, tho.

Order the cherry pepper shooters on the side for 75 cents. Man, that makes a good steak sandwich.

Re: Favorite Sub shops in Delaware

Mike's famous and Cleveland never really impressed me :/

I stick by Malin's as the best Cheese steaks, Capriotti's as the best subs. country maid in UP on 273 is up there for subs too, and Three DDD's for steaks on moores lane in NC

Nice to know that Nutter's is good. I drive out that way a few times a month and it looks like it could be a good stop and pick up dinner location.

I'm gonna have to go ahead and disagree with the boss, ss.

Speaking of the boss, we rented a charter limo bus to carry us up to see Springsteen at First Union a few years back. The 20 of us voted on where to stop for chow on the way, and Claymont Steaks was the overwhelming winner.

(That's the last time I had a Claymont Steak, by the way...since I'm never near Claymont anymore).

But it was quite awesome.

And back when a buddy o' mine lived in JF on Luray, we'd get 3 DDD's all the time.

That is also a dyn-O-mite steak sandwich.

Re: Favorite Sub shops in Delaware

I'm going to echo the sentiments of everybody else and say that Capriotti's is by far the best sub shop in DE (especially the Bobbi). It's been a long time since i was able to find an authentic, northeast-style sub until I discovered a chain - yes, i said it - called Jersey Mike's. Their subs are soooo good and taste really authentic except their cheesesteaks are mediocre. They've got locations all over the country though none in DE or MD yet. Worth the stop if you get a chance though.
