If you enjoy finding a good wine, this is the place to go. There's a "happy hour" wine special called "3-3-3" (described on Web site) if you want to just sit at the bar and get a feel for the place. According to its News Archives Web pg ( News Archives), it opened late in 2005. |
Thanks for the info.
Still, it opened in 2005 and I've never heard about this place. Either it's so good no one wants the secret out or it's not good enough to talk about.
Plus, the website is dull... add some pictures of the dining room and show the atmosphere of the place instead of using clip art of wine and vineyard scenes, note: there is one small thumbnail size pic that could be their dining room... kinda looks like my granny's house though. Adverts go a long way too. People won't go if they don't know it's there. Good luck. |

The website sucks , have not heard a thing, good or bad, about the place, but I am always willing to try a new place, granted if I could find it...
It took me two minutes or longer to realize that I had to click on the "make reservations" link to find the damned place......

My Mood: | | | Re: Domaine Hudson, wilmington The website may suck, but the food is high quality, and the wine selection
is better than you will find anywhere.
I've had some of my best meals there. Had a porkchop one time that
almost made me orgasm. I'm not kidding. It was that good.
The pricey food and wine could give it an air of snobbery, but I'm
acquainted with the owners and they are really good people. And
Tom Hudson knows his wine, especially how to pair it with food.
The dining area is small, but cozy. In the fall/winter, it has a very
inviting feeling - like you're ready for some comfort food.
It does seem like a best kept secret, but it has been reviewed in
the past with glowing recommendations. I've been there about 6 times
and every time it was incredible. But bring your credit card. It's
more than you would want to pay, but let's face it, if you want quality
you have to pay for it.
If makes for a nice date with your SO to sit up at the bar and order
appetizers and small plates while sampling wine (or drinking beer like
I do). However, the bar is very small (maybe 6 seats) but if you're
lucky enough to get a couple, you feel privileged.
All elitists should eat there. But I have seen a few Joe six packs.....

That bastard better be so good that I'd be willing to shell out another $29 for a second one.
In all sincerity, fine dining is wasted on me. I don't eat 75% of the things on a gourmet restaurant menu. Gimme a nicely cooked, tasty piece of meat, a cold salad, a potato and a nice bread and butter and I'm 100% satisfied.
Hold the spinach, asparagus, mushrooms, any and every kind of cheese...

Not that i wouldn't like it, but my blue collar taste buds may not agree with that level of elegance...
