My wife and I invited her sister and hubby for a Saturday evening in Chadds Ford...when we go out, we always over-order and dish everything up family style...which means we drop $200 - $300 easily. We (uh, I) also complain if something sucks (which is always a good test of service!). This is only my opinion, I am NOT a professional critic...I just LOVE good food, prepared well and with imagination!
Brandywine Prime ROCKS! ZERO to complain about...except no Samuel Adams on tap...The Raw Bar sampler is AMAZING...no need for the staff to explain the different tastes of the various oysters...the Bay Scallop Ceviche is awesome as well...throw in the gazbacho and the duck spring rolls (check out the menu, there's more to it than I remember) and you've got an incredible start!
The Bistro Steak and Smoked Venison were incredible...THE best Venison I've ever had was at MORO last year and this is close...perfectly tender! The crab cake was good, but the sauce took it over the top! I LOVE Harry's crab cakes....this was better! There was some other fish, I don't recall what it was, which is a shame because I would order it again!
Brandywine Prime also has a GREAT wine selection. They have at least 30 bottles that they price below $30...I'm a Riesling fan and they have a nice selection.
Both thumbs up if high-end dining is on your mind...nothing "over sized", everything was just right.
Cheers!
