My Mood: | | | Re: Border Cafe My SO refuses to eat there anymore after they brought him the wrong order on two separate visits, and the last time he went there, he ate maybe a quarter of one of his fajitas, asked for a box to take the rest home, and when they brought the box out, they had only put the fajita he'd eaten from in the box. The whole one "disappeared." He was pretty ticked off.

At any point where she threaten to take back the drink.Yea I'd want credit for my drinks and a box .I'm outa there. If you are legal it would have been fun to dare the manager to call the cops. I can only use 38 years of life and 3 years of professional waiting service as a yardstick to guess, but I doubt the waitress came back and said, "I need to see some friggin' ID from you people."
Most likely, she didn't check because she either 1- Thought they were both of age or 2- Forgot, and 3- A manager asked if she had checked and she didn't and was told to go check.
So one of two things happened. She either went back and disrespectfully asked for ID right off the bat, or she went back and asked professionally, and the patrons decided to make a federal case out of it and it escalated.
Delaware servers do not get a paycheck, for the most part. The $2.35 they make per hour barely covers the taxes on their tips. Most full time servers get a paycheck of between 5 and 40 dollars per week. Sometimes it's 0 or negative.
They make money from tips. Plain and simple.
Of course there are bad servers. But there are ridiculous customers, too.
I had a guy tell me he was diabetic once, and he could only drink diet coke. But he wanted 5...FIVE...maraschino cherries from the bar in each glass of diet coke. Do you have any idea how much sugar is in those?
He was watching the band, and went through 12 cokes...60 cherries...more than half the jar...during the course of the evening.
At some point near the end, myself or someone else mistakenly served him a regular coke. He flipped out after sipping it. Wanted his whole party's check for the evening comped....etc., etc. Totally irrational.
I brought the cherry jar out to him and explained how much sugar he had consumed already, and that while we apologized for the error, the sip of regular coke had nothing on the sugar binge he was already on.
