Re: Bennigans and Steak and Ale To close...

I see a trend with the closing of these establishments. People aren't eating out as much as they were and when they do, they want more for their money. So going to a chain establishment and paying $10 for a cheeseburger is not as popular as it once was.

I for one don't frequent these places mostly for the fact that I can't afford them, why spend that kind of money on food that you can make yourself, just so you don't have to make it your self? It never made sense to me. Now don't get me wrong, there are definately those days that I just don't feel like cooking and that's when I hit the local sub/deli/pizza shop, somehow a sub that you make at home never seems to taste exactly like what the local deli makes, but they do come close.

So my response to S&A, Bennigans and the like closing up.....good riddance, maybe now families will actually eat meals together in their homes and become a stronger unit.

I used to like Chotchkie's but I stopped going when the whole 'flair' thing came up about the Nazis.

Now I go to Flinger's.

Re: Bennigans and Steak and Ale To close...

We get together woth my in laws almost every Friday night. They pick where and what we have for dinner. Since they are paying it's all good with me! lol We haven't eaten out at a restaurant as much as we used to over the last few months though. I just think it's really awesome of them to feed ALL of us. With me and hubby plus kids that's 5 and my SiL and hubby plus son, all together it's usually 10 of us. That is a BIG bill! It's a nice way to spend family time though and I don't have to cook! I do wash dishes if my MiL cooks at home though. The in laws are the only reason we eat out at places like that though. But I LOVE me some cheesy spinach dip with chips!! MMMMM

I like TGI Fridays, but I refuse to go to the one on Rt. 13. I've had countless bad experiences there, and the poor service, food quality and cleanliness (or lack thereof) make me nauceous. The one down in Newark by the Bob is great, though as far as I can tell. I don't mind chain restaurants, but just 'cause it's a chain doesn't mean they're all exactly the same...
Applebee's is alright, I guess...not my absolute favorite, but I'll eat there.

Never had Steak&Ale...I really liked Bennigan's though...I'm sad to see that one go.

Re: Bennigans and Steak and Ale To close...

Late breaking news....one of my customers informed me yesterday that the Bennigan's in West Chester (on 202, about 2 miles north of the state line) is still in business...they're a franchised location, so the bankruptcy does not affect them....
