BellaVista Trattoria/Pizzeria

This place is new. Just opened in Pike Creek in The Shoppes of Limestone Hills (Tyler Fitzgerald's strip mall).

I'm planning on taking the fam there for dinner. I'm jonesing for pizza, and don't feel like driving into Newark.

I've never been. Has anybody else? Is it any good?

I saw that it was up there, Kid, but we haven't tried it out yet... Let me know if it's worth it...

Just got back from dinner at McGlynn's and thought of you while I was there...

Re: BellaVista Trattoria/Pizzeria

Wasn't there tonight. Was there last night, tho. The trivia players won 3 drinks each for placing top 5 in the country 3 times.

I had 3 double shots of Jack Daniels. I still feel like hell...

Hmmmm... Thursday nights are an early night with my current client... I might have to stop up there next week.

Re: BellaVista Trattoria/Pizzeria

This place is pretty good.

First off, the service was Excellent. The waitstaff is courteous and proactive without being intrusive. Even the busboys came by and refilled our drinks when it was time. A-plus on service.

Pricewise, it can't be beat. They offer a big Italian menu. The most expensive entree on the menu is $12.50. Salads do not come with meals, however. $5.50 for a tossed salad.

On to the food:

The wife got Vegetable Lasagna- Spinach, mushrooms, eggplant, zucchini and cheeses in a light aurora cream sauce....$9.50

I would never eat this unless I was trapped in the Andes and we ran out of flight crew to gnaw on...it's got like, healthy things in it...yuck.

Anyway, it came as advertised. Very pretty dish. The wife absolutely loved it. Big thumbs up.

I got a large pepperoni pizza ($10.75). I was happy with it, but it's no world beater. I can say I will get it again the next time I'm getting pizza to go. It's definitely better than Pietro's, Valle, Nino's, Valentina, and everything else in my vicinity. I think they use a part skim mozzarella, so it's not greasy at all. I was actually hoping for a greasier cheese. But that's just me. The dough is good.

My daughter got capellini and sauce from the kid's menu. Then she loaded it up with shaker parmesan, so I wasn't eating it. Looked pretty generic but smelled good.

It is quite small. About 12 tables, mostly 2 tops. I counted 37 seats. So it's never going to be the madhouse that Napoli is.

Cheesesteaks and subs are 6 bucks.

Next time I go I'm going to try the chicken parm ($12.50), and I'll probably get a boli ($7.50) to go at some point. They have a fra diavolo sauce with prosciutto, carmelized onion and peppers for $9.50 over choice of pasta. For $3 bucks you can add shrimp. I gotta try that, too.

Oh yeah, for an extra $1, you can get whole grain penne as your pasta choice. My wife, of course, was pleased by that.

Nice place. This area needed it. $27 bucks for a family of 3 for dinner (not counting tip). I'm down with that.

We play 6 half-hour games from 4 til 7. I get there at 3:30 to get a seat in the back. Let me know Thursday if you think you might make it and I'll save you a spot. They go quick. Not only have more folks come out for trivia, but Thursday is also "Customer Appreciation" night, and they put out free roast beef, rolls, and wings....so a bunch of pseudo-"regulars" show up at 4 to grab free food until 6 and then take off, so seating is at a premium.
