My Mood: | | | Will Smith Invests Nearly $1 Million In A School For His Kids Posted on May 19th, 2008 in The Daily Stab (Gossip So Good it Hurts) Will Smith has paid $889,000 to lease an Indian Hills High School in Calabasas, after failing to find a suitable institute for his two young children, Jaden, 9, and Willow, 7. The actor and his wife Jada Pinkett Smith have, until now, been home schooling the pair.
They first announced plans in December saying:“We started home-schooling our children probably six years ago. We found about eight or nine other parents that home-school, so we put them together. … There’s just very powerful educational concepts that we believe in, and we feel like ‘I want to design the system that revolutionizes public education.’ “ A spokesperson for Smith says of the school - renamed the New Village Academy of Calabasas:“Will is leasing the campus for three years, plus he’ll cover all costs such as utilities. The academy will be run privately, and will include prekindergarten through grade six.” WENN

I dread the day to see sheltered officials understand the people. Because they never understand real life. Yet they get a grip on our reality.

My Mood: | | | Re: Will Smith Invests Nearly $1 Million In A School For His Kids I can see Mr. Smith having a very personal interest in the education of his children. I think it was his grandmother who was a teacher, and his mother and grandmother were very strict with him about his education.
If I had the money to buy a school to run the way I see fit for my kid and others who felt the same way about education that I did.. hell, I'd do it, too. | | The Following 3 Users Say Thank You to Pythoness For This Useful Post: | |

Sounds good to me. I don't see what Scientology has to do with it. |
