My Mood: | | | School Issue update My house is for sale below market because the catholic school has decided my son has issues because of the bullying at Brandywine and they don't want to provide any assistance. They have kids stealing books and electronics from other kids but they are threatening my son about his pants being too low.
He told me he had a dream where he was forced to go back to DE schools and in his dream he decided to kill himself. I have had at least 4 lawyers say they would look into it but decided there wasn't enough money in it for them.
Son saw a 2nd psychologist, this one said he had post traumatic stress disorder.
I am afraid what will happen if he is kicked out of the catholic school and we haven't been able to sell our house first.
Imagine a family forced to move out of DE just to be able to get an equal education regardless of how others feel about a child's race. |

My Mood: | | Wow...Might I sugest you take your child(ren) out of the school that is of question, and home school teach as an option???
Pull his pants up, buy him a belt, and tell him to lock up the books he is not using in his locker... Problems solved....
Violence is not only a problem in (insert school district name here) but in every school district... Seems to me you have a slight problem with anywhere you put your little darling of a child...I am not sticking up for the school district in any way, but I can honestly say since I graduated from the NCCVT school district, and my brother graduated from the Colonial S.D. We both turned out pretty good FWIW...Look into putting your kid into a Vo-tech school...
Or better yet, enroll him into a school up in Philadelphia, then the pants issue won't be a problem....

My Mood: | | Re: racial segregation victim update Have you tried talking to your local elected officials about your issue with the School(s), e.g., School Board Members, State Representative and or State Senator ? As an aisde, in every post that you have made here you come off as angry. If you approach the issues that you're having with the same negative tone when you address whoever it is in the real world that you're pleading your case to they're less likely to take the time to want to help because you're coming across as irrational. Irrational is easily dismissed, and that's not to suggest that your particular gripe has no merit but, you get more bees with honey than you do with vinegar ... Also, I'm not looking favorably at the title of the thread as it lends itself too much toward speculation and or conjecture at best, and a baseless accusation at worse.

Imagine a family forced to move out of DE just to be able to get an equal education regardless of how others feel about a child's race. | So, he's been bullied in a public school, now you feel he's being bullied in a catholic school? Did you ever stop to think that it might be your son and not the school? (boy am I gonna take a beating for this one!)
My daughter has been in the Red Clay District for 12 years now, kindergarten through 11th grade, and she hasn't had a single problem. Maybe you need to choice him to another district.

My Mood: | | | Re: School Issue update Everyone on here who knows me is well aware that I am a public school teacher. I teach in the Christina School District. Now I will never say that we do not have our issues, of course we do, anytime that you put (at the high school level) 1200 - 1600 people together, all from different economic situations and personal backgrounds, you are going to have issues. Do we have problems with theft? Absolutely. Do we have problems with bullying? I'm sure we do. I can go on and on with our list of problems, HOWEVER, in my school, whenever possible, we approach these issues as a team. Parents, teachers, and administrators must work together in order for any situation to improve. I am certified to teach in three areas which can put me pretty much in any school in this district, and I have taught in many. I have had my fair share of parents calling to scream at me because their poor child isn't getting a fair shake. Fortunately I am organized, great at documenting EVERYTHING, and have learned (from other people) that teachers must cover our asses every way possible. I have never had a parent walk away pointing a finger at me, more often they look at my evidence, apologize, and then go have a talk with their child. Last year I had a parent call their lawyer to blame me because thier son ran out of my classroom to chase down a girl and punch her. Somehow they considered that to be my fault. The point I'm trying to make is that there is no way every school can be doing wrong by your child. Teachers (and I know we have our losers, every profession does) for the most part are well educated, hard working individuals who THRIVE on watching their students succeed. We typically are not ' out to get ' our kids; what would be the point in that? What I tell many parents is to please remember, the child that they put on the bus is NOT the same child that arrives in school. Ask you childs teachers about his/her behavior, both in and out of class. Ask who your child is hanging with. Ask what they do at lunch, who are they with. If you don't know the answers to these questions then you haven't done your homework yet. Both of my children attend public schools. For several years I had them choiced to Christina District so they could be near me. I wasn't so happy with "The Joey (Wise) Years" so I sent them back to their feeder district, Colonial. I have always been more than satisfied with the education my children are getting. As always, an involved, caring parent is the best route to a students success.

My Mood: | | | Re: School Issue update This is brandywhinevictim from the News Journal forums. I think he/she has his/her head in the sand. It's rather ironic that her son is now having problems in the same Catholic school she raved about when he/she first put him in there. Either his/her son is the problem, or he/she's looking for a hugh payout, by blaming the system. | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
