My Mood: | | Re: Parenting Help? Project Banishment Day One: I woke him up at 9:00 am, gave him some breakfast and read him the riot act. I told him I had enlisted the help of some friends and came up with a plan. He looked distraught. He asked a couple of questions, and I firmly answered them all. He was banished to his room until it was clean. He strutted out of the kitchen in his tighie whities and headed for the bathroom. He came out and said, "Mom are you serious?" and I looked him in the eye and replied "Serious as a heart attack kiddo" He went into his room and started cleaning! It's a little before 5:00 pm and he hasn't gotten all that much done, but he is making an effort. He has come out of his room a couple of times, but I sent him right back in there. He came out for lunch and for a snack at about 3, but other than that and a few bathroom trips he has been in his room. So, so far so good! I am very pleased to announce that so far day one is a success. Thanks again Pythoness for the idea. | | The Following 5 Users Say Thank You to arudawakening For This Useful Post:

My Mood: | | | Re: Parenting Help? We prepared for today by removing the power cords from everything electronic in his room, hubby disconnected his cable from the splitter in our room.
He has managed to make a bigger mess in one half the room, but he did haul out TWO full tall kitchen garbage bags! I found out the bugger was stuffing wrappers and soda cans under his platform bed!! He knocked a piece out that was against the wall and used that for stash!
The kids is way too smart for his age... I shudder to think what he will be up to when he hits puberty! Lord help me
I will post Day Two's progress in the afternoon. Thanks yet again Py for the suggestion. | | The Following User Says Thank You to arudawakening For This Useful Post:

And you're welcome for the suggestion.. I knew it worked for me, and just from reading your initial description of him, he sounds A LOT like me.

My Mood: | | | Re: Parenting Help? Sorry I haven't been back with updates, my Dr called Monday and sort of dropped a bomb on me so I have been a little bit distracted. So here is the update... it's Wednesday, he is STILL banished! He has snuck out a couple of times but I sent his butt right back in there! His sister has decided she feels bad for him so she aided him on his escapes. His room is STILL a disaster area. He has cleared out one small spot in the middle of the floor where he sits and keeps moving the same items around until he decides where he wants to put them. Im standing my ground though, and he isn't coming out until it's done! | | The Following 4 Users Say Thank You to arudawakening For This Useful Post: | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
