If anyone's interested, I started a new yahoogroup called Delawareness. This is identical to del-awareness, only the old moderator abandoned the group, and spammers took over. If you'd like to join, you can go to:
delawareness : Delawareness. Here's the description:
In order to restore the integrity of this noble cause, and to continue the vigilent defense of our homeschooling rights, I felt it was necessary to start anew, and at least try to weed out the nasty spammers. After the first post, all messages will be unmoderated. Please respect the other members by not posting for sale ads, or anything unrelated to DELAWARE EDUCATION LAW AWARENESS - (delawareness)
Delawareness is open to anyone interested in parent's rights to control the education of their children. Discussion may involve events in other states as well, to increase awareness and build a stronger defense against Big Government encroachments.
This list is (mostly) unmoderated, and is a networking and information-sharing tool. Because this list is open, we are a very diverse group. Opinions expressed on this list belong to the authors.
BIG WARNING! Please do not depend on others to find every piece of legislation that may usurp our freedoms! Each person is responsible for searching:
legis.delaware.gov - Official web site of First State Legislature for pending legislation and for communicating their own opinions to legislators.
When searching for new legislation that might affect parent's rights, remember that DOE uses DSS to enforce education laws. Therefore, it is wise to include broad search terms, such as "education" and "school," in addition to narrow terms, such as "homeschool," and "home school." Be prepared for a large volume of education-related legislation.
I will attempt to add/update links from the old del-awareness group as time allows. If anyone would like to assist with that, please feel free. Also, just in case something happens to me, I would like to create a co-moderator or two, so this group won't ever be abandoned again. Volunteers please speak up.
Debbie - the (mostly) Unmoderator
