Moving Blues!!!

We just moved this weekend, and my 2 year old hates the house....I think!! My son is a mama's boy, and is always by my side, but yesterday he wanted to leave every time a vistor left. I think he hates the house. I tried to set all his favorite things up. We have boxes everywhere....but Thursday is my last day of work until school starts back up, so by this time next week the house should be a little more organized! I hope. My stepson comes home tonight so maybe that will help a little. I hate to think that my son is gonna have a hard time adjusting. We moved to a great neighborhood. It's just really hard not knowing what he's thinking. I am sorry if I am rambling, and not making much sense.....not enough sleep!!

Re: Moving Blues!!!

Kids are made of some tough stuff. They will adjust, it will just take time. You have removed them from their known safety zone and into someplace new. You may have to spend a few nights sleeping in his room or he in yours. You might want to play a detective game with him. Get a flashlight and the two of you go and explore all the little nooks and crannies of the new house, so he knows all the rooms and does not have to be scared of rooms. Be attentive to his concerns and show him that you really care how he feels and at the same time let him know that there is no going back.

He'll adjust, just give it some time.

You are very wise!!! The game sounds great, both boys will have fun with that. I teach highschool, not little ones...can you tell. He has been sleeping with us. We put his bed next to ours for the time being. My husband says I worring too much. He's my baby....I can't help it.

Re: Moving Blues!!!

It is natural to worry too much. Be cautious in letting him sleep too much in your room. You will have trouble later. You don't want him to be 18 and still sleeping with you, and then when you need to get frisky with your husband it will cost you $20 in money to send your son to get a pizza and see a movie.

Let him spend a few nights in your room and make him spend a few nights in his room. Even if later in the night he ends up back in your room, he will be exposed to the lights, noises and shadows in his room and will grow acustomed to them.
