The House Book

I have this 3 ring binder in which I keep stuff. House and home related stuff.

In it are monthly calendars, weekly schedules, menu planning, recipes I use frequently, a grocery list, the budget and which bills get paid when and pay periods, contact info, a babysitter sheet that I take out and put on the fridge (I stick a post it note on it with the contact information of where we're going, so I never need to make a new one, just a new post-it), medical information and doctor's appoitments, vital stats, vet information, vaccination dates, and medical history on all the animals, the warranty information on the car, with the phone numbers of the dealership we bought it from, and the place we usually take it to have work done on it, house sitter and pet sitter instructions, a cleaning schedule and To Do lists, all that kind of good stuff.

Every morning while I drink my coffee, I open the house book, see what needs to be done, and that helps me think about how my day is going to go.

Anyone else do this or anything similar? What's in your house book?

Re: The House Book

I have several different boxes - some hold bills, some hold "important" stuff (like my Will and the mortgage papers) and one holds household related repair and expense invoices.

I'm not that organized.

Re: The House Book

I started out very organized. One hanging folder for paid bills, one for Steph stuff, one for car stuff, etc. Now, I just stuff the junk in a hanging folder and paw through it all when I need something. Paid bills get shredded. Steph hangs on to her own birth certificate and ss card.

Re: The House Book

All our bills get tossed on the desk. Once they are paid and the payment clears the checking account we shred the statements. We have a fireproof safe that we store all the mortgage info, dog's vaccination records, AKC papers, documents for our jewelery, basically, anything of importance. We also have pictures backed up on CD's that we keep in the safe.

Re: The House Book

OMG Py!!! You are WAYYYYYYYY more organized than me!! LOL I'm lucky if all our stuff we have to do gets on the calendar on the fridge! I have a box that all receipts go into and every once in a while my hubby gets disgusted and tries to file all the crap I throw on the desk. It's so cute because then he thinks it will stay that way! Silly man! But ya gotta love an optimist! In my defense though it's me that goes through all the stuff and gets it ready for taxes every year!
