The schools are Bayard and Kirk middle schools and Stubbs, Bancroft, Pulaski and Elbert-Palmer elementary schools. What say you guys? Good idea, bad idea, why?
I think it's a good idea. (Of course, as a kid in school I *never* would have had that opinion.)
It will help keep all kids on the same foot in regards to clothes in school. Won't matter if you have the money to pay for a 60 dollar blouse from Express or only a 1.50 special from Goodwill, 'cause you can't wear either of them at school.
Also, it will make enforcing a dress code in the age of middle schooler girls who grew up playing with scantily clad Bratz dolls a breeze.
I also think that it will give kids a good reason to think real hard on how to express their individuality without breaking the dress code.. and I'm thinking that's a good thing.

My Mood: | | | Re: Christina Schools to Have Uniforms I went to private school in a poor family. It's not so hard to go to Value City or Goodwill to get clothes that is similar to a uniform. Like when i went to St. Peter's Cathedral. Our uniform was blue khakis, light blue button up, and black or blue shoes. I got a lot of my stuff from clothes closets, and discount stores.

And actually, you'd think it would be easier for low income families. It means you don't have to buy your kid(s) a ton of clothes for school. |

My Mood: | | | Re: Christina Schools to Have Uniforms I think it's a great idea. I went to a private school and wore a uniform, and to be honest I loved it, especially as I got older. I didn't have to think about what to wear everyday, and I had the same 2 summer skirts and the same 2 winter skirts for all 4 years of high school. My Mom bought me 4 long sleeved shirts and 4 short sleeved shirts, and I wore those all four years as well. Uniforms are cheap city in the long run.

My Mood: | | | Re: Christina Schools to Have Uniforms I'm not a believer in uniforms, though I do support dress codes. I went to a private school where we had to wear slacks and collared shirts (ties on Wednesdays). My problem with uniforms is that it seems conformist. Like it's not ok to be different or think different. | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
