My Mood: | | | Re: Autistic Kid "Voted Out" Of His Kindergarten Class As a teacher, specifically as a teacher who has taught in just about every area of special education from gifted and talented to severe profound, and yes, even autistic, I am ashamed. How could this woman call herself an educator; how can she claim to love children (which I am confident she does claim).
I know that this may sound off-point, but I would LOVE to know if it was a private or public school. My reason is, I don't know Florida law, but I know that in Delaware private schools can hire anyone that they want to teach, no education or certification required. I would love to know what this womans background is. I have a hard time believing that she is certified in ANY area, let alone special education, and DEFINITELY not autism (which, in the State of Delaware is a certification in and of itself now).

My Mood: | | | Re: Autistic Kid "Voted Out" Of His Kindergarten Class I am amazed (and really dismayed) that this kind of garbage could still be happening ANYWHERE, but especially in a public school where it is assumed that the "educator" is a professional who understands that all children have differences that need to be respected and nurtured. It's teachers like this that give all of us a bad name that we have to fight everyday to overcome. I am so sorry for this child and his family. |

My Mood: | | | Re: Autistic Kid "Voted Out" Of His Kindergarten Class It's nothing short of amazing. Having two children myself (one with ADHD), I know that kids are very difficult sometimes, but there is NO excuse for this type of behavior. This wasn't a snap impulse. This was planned. This woman actually sat down and planned "how do I get this five year old kid?" What does she do for kicks on the weekends? Kill puppies? As angry as this woman makes me, I take comfort in knowing that karma will take care of her. | | The Following 2 Users Say Thank You to Tracy For This Useful Post: | |

My Mood: | | | Re: Autistic Kid "Voted Out" Of His Kindergarten Class Obviously no one in their right mind would think that way or do what she did. With that being said, the woman is not normal and needs serious help. If it were my child, I would initially want some sort of pain for the teacher, but would hope that I would see past that. A lot of time, someone who has been abused, becomes and abuser and needs help. I wonder what the story is with this teacher? Not making any excueses for her behavior, but also realize that there may be other things going on that we don't understand. It is a sad, sad story.
