| | Rough outline here all
we can do the "TalkDelaware.com Posters Choice Awards" (or make a better title)
I can make a section
put one thread in there where we can brainstorm categories, or steal someone elses
then get a nomination thread together for each category OR PM me nominations and ill keep a list till XYZ date/deadline
then we can make a thread for each category with the top 5 or so nominees and we vote
simple enough?
MAKE SUGGESTIONS! this is YOUR choice awards
O and I made a proto-type award too

| | Black and white with a splash of color, plus a font that's easily readable is your best bet. That's the MOST attention getting color scheme in advertising. The color splash should be different for different places though, like, you don't want to use blue for a restaurant, ever see a big chain use blue? If it's an award for best food, the splash should be red, best bar, gold, best flower shop, plant place, nursery etc, green. Same design all the way around though. Put the same award on the homepage with a splash of blue and "Home of the Talkdelaware Posters Choice Awards" so people can relate it to the signs they're seeing everywhere.
Simplicity is a key factor as well. Something a where a mere glance could say everything. Don't make it too busy.
Just a thought, been in marketing for ten years now, signs, ads, sites, etc. I've had to do a lot of research on these things.
Edit: I've searched out a few restaurant awards in Google:
The one above is good, but it needs color. I like it because you know everything it says at a glance, plus the name is at the top AND the bottom, people will see it when they start reading, and when they end, it'll be the main thing they remember. This is how I do our display ads in the classifieds.
This one, I like the color scheme, not too busy, but attention getting. I dont care for the word "Winner" being the most prominent though, the award itself just being there should point that out. People would walk away from this, with their eyes being drawn only to the big red word and remember 'didnt that place win something from somewhere?"
I'll try to come up with something too, maybe I can enlist the help of a couple people I know in a composing department who like me, lol, and are much better at doing this stuff than I am.

| | | what if we were to take the TD bubble with the state in it and blow it up to full paper size as a background and then put Talk Delaware's Poster Choice Award in the foreground. I think having our logo front and center would be impactful. | | |

| | I think it's damn fine idea for some subtle advertising, kudos on that aspect. I would try some variation of the third one Chaser threw up, pictured below, and rather than the standard 8x11 have it larger so it stands out. Have them framed and deliver them, try to have them hung, maybe provide the hardware too ...
