They were one of the original discount department stores. They used to be located where the Price's Corner Wal Mart is...and then it became a Zayre...which became a Jamesway...and then Bradlees...and then Caldor....and then KMart...and now it's a Wallymart...can't find any references to Gaylord's anywhere, so they only exist now in our memories....but here's an ad for Zayre!
