You can't think you're going to work for the same company your entire life like our grandparents did - unless your a civil servant. If you have no awareness of how your company if performing, it's your own fault. Even with private companies, you can tell how product or services are getting to market and you can make a best-guess at how the company is doing....

Want to know who is doing well and who is not - Study NASCAR sponsorships. Look at who is sponsoring cars and who is withdrawing or cutting back their sponsorship. It is very telling of what companies are succeeding

Citi just sent me a letter threatening to cancel my account for lack of use! Like I am going to use them simply to keep their card.....

No need to explain, I like it.

I had a prudential card that I was going to cancel because I figured I didn't need it. Before I got the chance, I received a letter similiar to yours but instead of threatening to cancel, they notified me to tell me it was canceled. Oh well.

Re: Store Closings Planned

Oh, and when you're out shopping for someone this Christmas season, make sure you don't accidentally pick up a gift card for one of these places - they will continue to sell them, even though they plan to liquidate when the season ends.
