Sorry guys I have always been a Steelers fan, it's what I grew up with.

But I often wondered why DE was a suburb of Philly, but never really put any thought into it. Of course, I haven't live in DE since I was 9 anyway. But i realize you guys are right, it is the media coverage. Delaware really doesn't have it's own large corporate media, so most of the stations are Philly stations. It makes complete sense.

Another thing I would like to say, the closer you get to Baltimore, the more Redskin fans you will find. Yes, Baltimore was without a team for a long while and let's admit it... we stole the Colts. A lot of MD'ers didn't appreicate it much. MD in some respects is a DC suburb as well. There are places in MD that only get DC media. And when we didn't have a team a lot of the stations carried Redskin games.

The only thing it appears MDer's agree on is the Orioles for baseball and that's if you even like or watch baseball (I don't). Of course, Cal Ripkin and then his son had a lot to do with it. But honestly, the Oriole's are the only hometown team MD has.

Well, since we don't have the luxury of having a home team of our own, we take whatever's closest. I knew a lot of people in college from Sussex county that were huge Baltimore fans. Like Witchy mentioned, a lot of it depends on the broadcast stations that you get.

In addition, there was period of time where Baltimore didn't have a football team. My Dad grew up as a massive Baltimore Colts fan, and then they skipped town in the middle of the night in a moving van. He gravitated to the Eagles and wouldn't go back to cheering for Baltimore if his life depended on it.

I didn't mean to insinuate that you ALL were bandwagon jumpers and mindless zombies. I was talking about how people in stores just seem to act. They don't know how to answer my "why do you like them" question, as if no one has ever challenged their beliefs.... It's almost an "everyone else likes them" sort of answer. That's the reason behind my zombie and bandwagon comments.

That's why I've asked the question, trying to figure out WHY it's always "Philadelphia whoever" around here and not "Baltimore whatever" instead, since we're close to both cities.

I wasn't name calling, and I apologize to everyone if my post came across impolitely.

I root for the Philly teams because they win all the time and I can always talk about how many Rings they have because that makes me feel important by proxy.

I root for the Philly teams because I, too, know what it's like to have grand expectations, go three-quarters of the way to my goal, then decide to simply quit because, really, what's all the fuss about finishing what you start anyway?

For me, Philly is in my blood. I was born and raised there and still consider it home. I can't imagine rooting for another team or city.

Why not 'Ravens' and 'Orioles'???
