Exclamation Philadelphia Flyers 2008-2009

The season is getting ready to gear up with Pre Season games at the end of this month and the Home Opener on October 11th. As a Season Ticket Holder I have to opportunity to get advanced tickets starting today, are there any games in particular that anyone is interested in getting seats for, maybe a group of folks here, seats are available for a lot of the games in the Family Section @ $20 for adults and $10 for kids (figure $27 and $16 after service charges) so anyone want in ?

General sales to the public start on the 20th so now is the time if you want to get in on something. As an aside, most of the Divisional games don't have seats left in the Family Section, except for the Islanders ...

*If you want me to try and snag you something call me @ 302.236.5337. I'll sit down and see what's available while I have you on the line ...

Sure I went, and not a bad game for Pre Season all things considered plus they bring in a 4-1 win. Some mistakes here and there but they're learning to work together and most of them, the rookies anyway, they won't be playing at the Wach come October 11th but they mixed it up pretty good. The place was dead unfortunately, might have been 5,000, and most didn't stay ...

And hey, I think I saw Scrappy on the big screen.

Re: Philadelphia Flyers 2008-2009

I love the preseason fights.... all the young'ins trying to make a lasting memory.

Too bad about the crowd but that's pretty typical for pre-season, especially with the price of tickets and the Phillies winding down there season at home. Oh, and what's up with the Flyers raising the price of first rows seats to $175.00 each? That's freaking unbelievable since last year those very same seats were $75.00 each...wtf?

Last season the face value for the lower level was $89, still high in my opinion but the change is a reflection of what's happening throughout the league as most if not all other venues have done the same thing knowing that their Corporate clients will move to those seats if those who had them vacate due to the price increase. For the Corprations it's a write-off, entertainment, a cost of doing business. There are teams that are getting upwards of $11k for Ice Row Season Tickets, Phoenix comes to mind as one ...

*As an aside, Lowers Level seats at the Spectrum for the 1973-1974 Stanley Cup Finals were $12.75 each

Re: Philadelphia Flyers 2008-2009

Still..... it's a huge increase for one year.
I know hockey doesn't have the same media coverage and advertising that helps lower ticket prices for other sports....but it sure seems a bit high for any average fan.

If the economy continues to get worse, more and more venues will be seeing a decrease in sales and less sell outs.

Back to Flyers.... anyone impress you tonight?

Yes and no, lol. It's hard to say that any of the regular players did because the Devils had a lot of their rookies out too, and at times things weren't evenly matched.

Downie scored twice and seemed to have a bit of discipline about him so that's a good thing. The defense as a whole had some good meshing on the ice but a few of those aren't rookies, they're just learning to play together as a unit. Parent continues to improve and that's a big plus for the team.

The PK was sharp in the beginning of the 1st with a few 5 on 3 opportunities for the Devils but then again, the Devils weren't using their top squad ...

Matt Clackson seems like a scrapper, he's one to watch.

Also, which economy are you talking about when you get into ticket costs, yours, mine, maybe someone else's economy somewhere ?

Where is bad ?

Not so sure, I guess, anyone who is watching their dollars. I think hockey has to keep the ticket price high to cover the lack of adverts and major network coverage. It's an expensive sport to watch live for such a long season with plenty of home games. I can see football being expensive but there are only 8 home games a year (supply vs demand).

Sorry if I'm not getting my point across.... I got up earlier than usual today (noon) and I'm starting to fade fast. Maybe I'm just old but it doesn't seem that long ago I was paying $37.00 a game for good seats with Ovations passes too.

Re: Philadelphia Flyers 2008-2009

Shiiiii..
I thought it was a great game.. Considering how much I've missed the Flyers..

Cote and Clackson went after the same dude.. Great fight in both of them... LeBlond (think that's his name) towered over Clackson, but he got in some good punches..

MO.. Where were you sitting?? I was in section 112, row 7...

The fundamentals of the economy are strong. Just keep repeating that
and clicking your heels together at the same time.

And that also should work to deliver a Stanley Cup to Philly this year
too.... the fundamentals of the Flyers are strong!
