Flyers beat the Caps 2-1 at home last night in their last Pre Season game at home for the year bringing their Pre Season record to 4-2-0. Glen Metropolit scored his first goal in a Flyers' Sweater after coming over from Boston in the off season and Joffrey Lupul buldged the twine with a few seconds left on a Power Play following an awesome set up pass from another new Flyer, Steve Eminger who last year was sporting a Caps Sweater.

The Flyers will take on their AHL affiliate Phantoms in an exibition game at the Wachovia Spectrum, on October 7th, and the next Home Game for the team @ the Wachovia Center will be the Season Opener on October 11th against the Rangers.

Folks, this team is looking good ...

Re: Philadelphia Flyers 2008-2009

Flyers have a big opportunity to be an unstoppable force this year in the Eastern Conference. Pittsburgh is going to be without their top 2 defensemen for almost the entire year and they also don't have Hossa anymore. Philly will capitalize on this.

The Home Opener is this Saturday against the NY Rangers. I'm pumped for a great season, headed up early for a little partying in the parking lot.

One of my friends in Philly, another Season Ticket Holder is looking for someone that wants to go the Opener using his extra ticket for $23, he's in Section 220 behind the goal. Hell, you can ride up with me if you want, can't beat that deal ...

OK...I'm totally disgusted that Comcast-Spectacor would even CONSIDER allowing Sarah Palin to drop the ceremonial puck...the Flyers (and professional hockey) are ABOVE politics (yes, MO, I know they're grand-I'm involved)...Philly fans, be prepared to be lambasted by the National Media.

It's Ed Snider's team basically, and as such he can do what he wants. I've heard some rumblings ove the decision to have Palin there for the Ceremonial Puck Drop sure, but the fact remains that they're (the Flyers) looking to tap into the Hockey Mom segment with advertising and that's why they're running that contest that's going to end with the winner dropping the puck with Palin. It's not a political rally and she's not stumping, they're just capitalizing on her popularity.

Vote with your wallet and don't support the team if you feel that strongly about it. Tell you this much, if the tables were turned I would seriously consider it ...

A thread that I started a month ago on the Flyers' Forum is heating up a bit now.

Re: Philadelphia Flyers 2008-2009

Screw that..

I hate, downright LOATHE Clay Aiken.. If he was to drop the first puck I'd still be watching.. Above all, the Flyers are what I look forward to every single year....

Bring it all on... I can't wait til tomorrow....

Re: Philadelphia Flyers 2008-2009

Someone, *cough* MO *cough*, please take a video of Sarah Palin dropping the puck at tomorrows Flyers game. I'm very interested to see/hear how the crowd reacts to her.

I personally, think Ed Snyder is a big asshole to have Palin drop the opening games' puck. I'm not interested in his political views and wish he wouldn't bring them to the Flyers games.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Philadelphia Flyers 2008-2009

God damn it..
Tough loss, especially coming back from 4 - 0..
Speaking of which.. How the hell did Biron let 4 goals in the first god damn period?? They pulled him in the first and Niity came in and made some bad ass saves.. He should have started IMO...

Like I said, tough loss for the first game of the season.. 4 - 3
