This really isn't all that hard. Not your question, Bing, but the concept itself.

What drives the economy?

Answer:

Sales. Sales drive the economy.

Remember the stimulus checks we all got? That was an effort to spur sales in the country.

Cutting taxes on the incomes of people who SPEND money is a great way to put disposable income into the hands of people who will actually SPEND it.

If you have to repeal the Bush tax cuts on those who's spending is less likely to be curtailed by a 3-4% tax increase in order to pay for cutting taxes on those who's purchasing power absolutely depends on it, then it's what you do.

It's not socialist. It's called a progressive tax structure. We've had one since the beginning of the 20th century.

You want a flat tax, fine. But don't call what we're all used to Socialism.

I have seen the clip of Biden. He didn't misspeak. He was citing an example of a middle income family making 150k. He never said, "People making 150k will get a tax cut." He said, a middle class family making 150k needs their taxes reduced" or something very equivalent. He never inferred that 150 was a threshhold of any kind.

ETA: In my current situation, my income would have to double to meet Joe's standard of middle class.

You think - not very convincing. If you assumption is correct seems they have built in another marriage penality. Let's say I make 199K, (I don't by the way - I happen to be semi-retired: and that my wife makew 199K, she doesn't, we would be paying more taxes. Would the same hold true of Ted and John a CA married couple or Jane and Alice.

A perfectly legitimate opinion, Bill.

Mine is, if Obama/Biden DO win, you will actually be better off financially than you are now.

So if it does happen, perhaps there will be some solace in that.

Don't quite understand why the our taxes are an issue with the democrats, higher or lower taxes.. Leave things alone..I believe Obama stated saving the money from the Iraq war, cutting defense budget and thinning out the troops in Afghanistan. Why bring any remarks on taxing the American people....I think we're going to have more problems than a usual with our new Presidency. Look At our candidate's history already, racism, hatred, lies, and preaching change to the American people. I 'm not by any means referring to Obama but the campaign instead...
