| Re: Sports Betting Solution? The revenue from this sports book would come more from visitors to our state than from Delawareans.
The 70 Million estimate already takes into account the 1,500 or so jobs and salaries that would come with the operation. So that's 70 million AFTER paying employees a salary with benefits.
It doesn't count the additional millions in Hotel, Restaurant, and Retail sales that would accompany out of state bettors...nor the additional jobs that would create.
Governor Minner has steadfastly refused to approve a sports book.
Yet we have lottery, slot machines, and OTB horse betting.
Hell, I go down every Kentucky Derby and lay about 30 bucks worth of bets on Trifectas and whatnot.
Is there really a difference between horse betting and sports betting that isn't splitting hairs?
No one is saying that we get the 100's of Millions of dollars, and there is ZERO side effect. There will surely be some negative, and some unintended consequences.
That's why you can repeal laws.
Isn't it worth a shot?
Before we start firing teachers and having 45 kids to a class?
Before we cut Paratransit?
Before you or someone you care about gets the boot? |
