Re: President Bush Boooed at Baseball Game.
I went to a Philadelphia Phantoms game last night, and the ref was making some really terrrible calls, which in turn caused the crowd to boo rather loudly. It wasn't a lack of respect for his position, because everyone knows it can't be easy to do what he does, but it showed that we disagreed with his call and wanted him to know it.
I have a friend whose father is a ref for college football. He loves doing it, but he knows full well that everything he does is up for scrutiny of the fans. If he makes a bad call, if he misses a call for the opposing team, if he's calling the home team too much - the coaches, players, and fans will let him know. Loudly.
I thought that we as a nation would show Bush just how dissatisfied we were with him during the 2004 election. I was wrong.
He hasn't been returning my phone calls, or hanging out at my neighborhood bar lately, so if I was at that game, I'd take the chance to let him know that I'm not happy with the calls he's made lately.

While Bush was on the mound, Haliburton executives stole all of the equipment out of both dugouts and locker rooms, and Blackwater personnel replaced each member of the National's ball club. The Blackwater team was almost as good as the Nationals, and only cost 15 times as much.

Sorry to be Debbie Downer here but I am appalled at the lack of respect we show to our POTUS. I mean I couldn't get away with that at work. It's a tribute to our freedom of speech but I wonder... just because we are allowed to do something like that, should we go ahead and do it?
I'm serious.

No, Rusty, I have considered this perspective. I really have. I think we only can show our displeasure with a President once every four years. This current one has been brewing for 8, so I think you see how some people have chosen to voice their displeasure.
But also consider this, I've been to many sporting events, and it only takes a couple dozen people at the right moment to make a boatload of noise. While I did hear boos in the crowd, it was certainly no where near 41,000 people booing. So I would say the vast majority of people showed respect.
I myself would not have booed. I don't roll that way (unless I've had 8 beers, then all bets are off).
Not saying it's right to boo, but I can see how some people would given the fact that we have no way to address our grievances with a sitting President, other than one vote every four years.

Let's be clear about one thing, this isn't a situation where Rodney Dangerfield is going to flash on the screen and say "No respect, I'll tell ya', no respect!"
There is good reason that the people of this country show their dissatisfaction towards their rulers. After all, that's what we built our nation on, the power to decide who rules over us and who makes decisions for us, and if we're pissed off we want them to know it. I think being booed at a baseball game is extremely tame compared to what happens in other countries.

Well Debbie, or Rusty, whichever you would like to be called today..
He should consider himself lucky....
If he was at a Phillies game, or any sport in the Tri state area
they would have chanted the following while he was out in the publics eye.....
might not be safe for work
The Asshole chant....
