Cool. It's time to regain our sanity & respect. It's well past time to put cowboy George out to pasture & extract the Penguin from his underground lair. Congratulate yourselves, folks, you've done good!

He was not my choice but I wish him the best. He does have his work cut out for him.

Re: Obama elected 44th prez

The man NEVER lets up. I refused to watch all of the talking heads channels and only tuned in to listen to Obama's acceptance/victory speech. As usual, it was eloquent and moving.

I'm too tired right now for any additional comment... but it's coming.

Regards,

Joe Walther

Re: Obama elected 44th prez

Bush: 'Can I Stop Being President Now?'

WASHINGTON—In a press conference held this morning on the White House lawn, President Bush formally asked the assembled press corps and members of his own administration if, in light of today's election, he could stop being the president now. "So it's over, right? Can I stop being president now?" Bush said after striding to the podium in a Texas Rangers cap and flannel shirt, carrying a fully packed suitcase. "Let's just say I'm done as of now. Presidency over." When informed by Washington Post reporter David Broder that his presidency would continue through early January, Bush stared at him quizzically, sighed, and shuffled silently back into the White House.

Two Very Graceful Speeches

Obama's Victory Speech:

Transcript: 'This is your victory,' says Obama - CNN.com

MCain Concedes:

Transcript: McCain concedes presidency - CNN.com

Obama called for unity, Mcain called for acceptance and support. Both speeches followed the trend of this election in being historic and as yet unheard of. Both candidates were graceful in either their winning or losing form.

We as a group, should follow the examples of these two men.

I had tears in my eyes listening to Obama's speech this morning. No president has ever made me cry when they were speaking - except for in DISGUST!

Exclamation Re: Obama elected 44th prez

Congratulations to the Obama/Biden campaign, and to each of them individually. They made one hell of a showing and I wish them well as they move into the next phase of this great Country called America ...

Re: Obama elected 44th prez

Somewhere in this great country of ours, Sean Hannity has a
substantial chubby....(4 years of endless material for my show!)

On a serious note, I thought McCain's speech was one of the best. Even
when his supporters booed at hearing Obama's name, Johnny Mack did
the right thing and quieted them down. I respect him and his service, and
realized during the speech that it was the John McCain that I would have
voted for in 2000. Unfortunately for him, he was out-played in the
campaign. It probably won't happen, but I do hope he can play some kind
of role in the upcoming administration. He deserves at least that much.

Credit where credit is due, Obama campaigned tirelessly. He inspired many
people, not just here but around the world. The one thing I'll say is, I
know it's news because he is the first black President, but won't it be an
even greater day in our country when the race or gender of the candidate
will not be "news". I guess this could be the first step toward that goal.

Okay TD, back to our regularly scheduled programming. For me, that
means fart jokes and other immature comments. I am also declaring an
all points bulletin to TD members who have gone into hiding to please
return and join the fun. We survived our first election together. At the
end of the day we all have to survive, no matter what our opinions.
