The following is a list of Governors McCain may ask to be his running mate. Senators will come tomorrow, Former 2008 candidates and "Others" to follow.
From CNN, but liberally (ha!) paraphrased. See their actual bios here:
http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/03/...nts/index.html Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour-
Former Lobbyist and RNC chairman. No thanks.
Florida Gov. Charlie Christ-
Horrible, orange-hued fake tan. Reminds me of a Jersey girl co-ed at the U of D. Bush appointee. No thanks.
Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal-
I like the fact that he's of Indian descent, but we're not related. Gets points for being a Rhodes Scholar, but loses them immediately for being a Bush appointee. Jury's still out on this one.
Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawley-
History of stepping aside for others to run. I'm not sure that shows very much backbone. Other than that, he's a rather boring character. Undecided.
Georgia Gov. Sonny Perdue-
Seems like a good old boy a la Jimmy Carter. Former veternarian, owned a grain business, but SWITCHED FROM THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY TO BECOME A REPUBLICAN. Blasphemy, no thanks.
South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford-
Left Congress after a self-imposed 3 term limit. I like that, a man not afraid to serve the people but unimpressed with the life of a career politician. Of course, serving as Governor a mere two years later doesn't exactly make you the next Truman, does it?
Winner: Undecided, but out of this lot, my money is on Sanford.
