I never suggested, nor am I aware of, any instance in which Mr. Black had a gun in his hand and shot someone in Iraq. I have a serious issue with the Department of Defense running a lot of the war in Iraq using military contractors. There are three primary concerns is this: 1) these companies are not governed by the Uniformed Code of Military Justice, 2) our armed forces take an oath to uphold the Consitution of the United States of America--contractors do not, and 3) Who do they answer to? The answer is, no one is sure to whom they are responsible. But, we know it is not the US government and it is not the Iraqi government.
In addition, Blackstone, the company, has been involved in numerous scandals since they joined the fight in Iraq: 1) killing of civilians (multiple times), 2) overcharging the US government for services rendered, 3) charging the US government for services not rendered at all, and 4) not operating with a valid contract in Iraq since the end of 2005. Mr. Black is a senior executive at said company. To me, this puts a gigantic question mark next to his name, and calls Mr. Romney's judgement into question as well.
