| | | With all we hear about the candidates for President, could you pass the vetting process? What would your past reveal? I can speak for myself the main reason I haven't run for the office is my past, not criminal, well not "felony" but hey I was a kid and I would not want some of the things I did to come out. I turfed that guys lawn one time and got caught.....
tell uncle poppa daddy Max

| | | I'm glad you brought that up, max. I couldn't make it. I would hate to be under the microscope. Respect is all i can give to anyone who can put their past on the line for the advertising.

My problem with office is that people don't car about your stand on issues. They care about the package you portray. Most of us have a grasp on our ideals an reasoning, but the joe-six pack does not.
I'll put it on the table now. I don't have a conviction record. I have been arrested. I never dealt drugs. If you want more PM me. ^_^ | | The Following User Says Thank You to Roogle For This Useful Post: | | Re: Could you pass the smell test?

| | | If you start early and talk to people, individuals, families and small groups, you can break through because when you're dealing with folks like that, one on one, issues do matter. The packaging can't get you the breakthrough like personal contact can, there's no substitute on the local level for face to face contact. You could be working at it now, but with no real plans to run, just working at talking to people. The trouble is that it takes a lot of time and a lot of effort but, if your heart is in it you'll find the time to make the commitment, if not this year then next, if not next then the year after, you're young enough. People can overlook a lot of things if you're able to make a personal connection. I lost a State Senate Primary by 58 votes, and that was as a nobody at the time against the party's endorsed candidate. That's roughly 25 more doors in a district with 39,000 people, another day or two might have made the difference, then again maybe not ... | | The Following User Says Thank You to M.Opaliski For This Useful Post: | | Re: Could you pass the smell test?

| | | She won't have a choice if you give the voters an attractive alternative. Are you satisfied with the job she is doing, or do you feel that you could do better ? If you're friendly with the incumbent, and content with their representation it might be best to wait a bit, you'll know far better how to feel things out than I would, I'm not even in the cheap seats to view your playing field ... | | The Following User Says Thank You to M.Opaliski For This Useful Post: | | Re: Could you pass the smell test?

| | | How i feel with her performance is not the best. I feel she could do better. But in this environment. She has to let some things go on in order for her to keep her spot.
Like if i were to come in and state, "I know X and Y that are getting drugs from Z and A in Hockessin." Could the community stand me stopping the drug trade and arresting a lot of people? I would think they would pull out my past to ensure i wouldn't challenge the status quo. | Re: Could you pass the smell test?

| | | Granted, neither of you are in a position to stop crime but blatently over looking it in order to retain a seat on the City Council is hardly the type of representation the area needs. What it comes down to is principle, it's either worth the exposure of your past, should that happen, or it's not. This is what I looked at, internally, and this is what I have often told others - If you believe in your heart that you can and you will making a positve and lasting impact on the area that you are interested in representing then it's worth it ... | Re: Could you pass the smell test?

| | | I have had the BATF show up at my house unexpected, right here, along with the DSP Liaison to the BATF, they came together, plain clothes but identifed, just to ask some questions. Turns out that after reviewing all of the details of which there were many the US Attorney's Office didn't bring any charges, now there's a story ... *I have written extensively on the matter elsewhere, I'll see what I can dig up
