Both of the campaigns were invited to a Security Briefing with the current Administration so, chances are that they do know something, to what extent only they know. And in that case, to the extent that they know, all of them know (Bush/Cheney, Obama/Biden and McCain/Palin) but it's in the Nation's best interest not to tip your hand, Biden obviously missed the memo on that as is evidenced by his pleading with supporters when he thought that no one was listening ...

Don't interpret this as a defense of Biden, because I already said his
statements were idiotic....

But Mo, that is a tad bit speculative no? I'm not disbelieving they met,
but really, we have no idea what it's about.

The thing is Roog, when it comes to National Security there are some things that the public just can't know.

We were hit on 9/11, everyone knows that, but you haven't heard about any other hits, or even planned hits that were thwarted because you don't let on that you know what a potential adversary is up to, in doing so you give them the opportunity to change their plans ...

Bing, it was a Foreign Policy Briefing with the current Administration and the two major party campaigns, and shortly thereafter Biden is on the trail with insider information. Nothing specific mind you but, awfully sure of 'something' ...

There is no such thing as a private gathering anymore. Not unless you're in the White House, I guess.

Same deal with Obama's "cling to guns and religion', which was supposed to be closed door conference, if I remember correctly.

You say shit to rile up your base supporters to dig deep for you. Then it gets leaked, and because it appears to be a clandestine gathering, it's assumed that that's how you truly feel or believe. When you're speaking to a room full of hardcore democrats, you still have to speak like you're talking to America in total.

Dumb. Just dumb. I see absolutely no reason why Biden would have needed to say this. Careless and unnecessary...and pure speculation.

And it gave the McCain camp some real meat. Bizarre meat...but fresh at least. A genuine gaffe.

When Biden becomes VP, do you think the media will ever say he lives in Delaware, instead of Scranton, PA?

If they do, I hope they distinguish between 'above the ditch' and 'below the ditch'.
