Would you use public transportation?

Sunday bus service not coming soon
Legislature called for more public transportation, but didn't appropriate money to pay for it

WILMINGTON -- DART First State won't make the Legislature's target date for starting Sunday bus service statewide without money to pay for it, officials say.

The Legislature passed a resolution in June that called for DART to implement several six-month demonstration routes by Nov. 10, followed by full statewide Sunday service by December 2008. But the resolution wasn't accompanied by any extra money for DART's budget.

This article is mainly about sunday bus service but I want to know what improvements would be necessary for anyone of you to "park n ride"? I used to be a bus rider but it was such a pain when I moved out of town that I just got a car. Any other bus stories out there? Does it seem as if only weirdos ride the bus? If you've been on a dart bus lately what did you think of the service and or the driver?

Re: Would you use public transportation?

Dont use Dart I use the Marc train system it is usually better than driving (no wear and tear on your car no tolls or gas )but when something breaks it usually turns into a nightmare (took nearly 4 hours to get to work today)

Re: Would you use public transportation?

Is that the number 9 DART bus? Mom always said, life is like a box of chocolates, ya never know what you're going to get.

Sorry, no bus stories. I'm on foot.

But a friend told me recently that a DART bus driver got pulled over for cutting someone off. Seriously.

And from my experience, they either don't see or have no sympathy for pedestrians. Bing has nearly been run down a couple thinks.

Re: Would you use public transportation?

I took a Peter Pan bus from Boston to Delaware once.

And one time I had a girlfriend who lived in Margate, NJ and I didn't have a car but really wanted to do the nasty. I took the casino bus to A.C.. They gave me a roll of quarters when we got there.

I will never willingly take a bus again.

I grew up in Philadelphia, using public transportation was a matter fact. As a teen, too young for a driver's license but too old to be carted around by mom, we went where ever we wanted and when ever we wanted.

I took 2 buses and the subway to get to high school downtown, but it was a magnet school, and that was my choice. In an area like that, or similar, I would use it I think.

Here in Delaware, not so much, plus I'm way past the point where I'm reliant on others for my transportation.

Perhaps you're ignoring the obvious. Maybe they just don't like you!

Re: Would you use public transportation?

Here in Tampa, our transit system is a joke. I'd never set foot on a HARTLine bus. Plus, most of the year it's either too damn hot or

We do have a trolley line that serves downtown, the Channel District (cruise ship terminals and entertainment complex), and Ybor City (Nat'l historic district and Tampa's "party spot") that is extremely popular and utilized by both tourists and locals. I'd ride that anyday - if they extended it north to my neighborhood.

Whenever i'm in NYC I take the subway just about everywhere. There's really no better way IMO to navigate Manhattan.

Re: Would you use public transportation?

I don't do public transportation and I can't stand being without my car. I'm addicted to my car.

I don't think you'll find many who will disagree with that, no one wants to be without their car.

I don't even like driving my wife's car ...
