Police are looking for an Ogletown teen who was reported missing by her parents last week.
Ashlee Bailey, 15, last was seen leaving her family’s home in Breezewood I off Chestnut Hill Road about 2 p.m. Tuesday, according to her parents, Patrick and Renee Bailey.
The teen – 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighing 135 pounds – recently had a medical procedure, her parents said, and they are concerned about her health. She has shoulder-length straight brown hair, four piercings on each ear and a belly piercing, they said.
Ashlee, who is going into 10th grade at Pencader Charter High School this fall, has no history of running away, the Baileys said.
Her siblings, who could provide no description of the clothing she was wearing, were the last family members to see Ashlee and tried unsuccessfully to stop her from leaving their home on Newland Court, their father said. The other children told their parents she had a red, wheeled suitcase with her when she left, he said.
Since her disappearance, the couple has been canvassing the area and said they met one neighbor who believes she saw the missing teen with two other girls walking Thursday afternoon on Gender Road toward a commercial sports complex there.
“We’ve been talking to all kinds of people, her father said.
Her parents said they are concerned not only about her health but also about her safety. Her mother said their concerns are worsened by knowing that Ashlee had no money when she left the house.
They said she has friends in the Scottfield development near Newark and may have been seen on Kirkwood Highway. The couple got one tip that their daughter – who has no record of arrests – may have been heading toward the Elkton, Md., area.
Through tears, her mother said, “We’d do anything to have her back. We just want her home.”
New Castle County Police Department spokesman Cpl. Trinidad Navarro, who confirmed Ashlee has been listed as a missing person, today said that tips on her whereabouts may be called to 911, 573-2800 or 395-8171. He said tips also may be given at the police force’s Web site, www.nccpd.com. I have to be honest, I don't have a lot of love for runaways... I think they are purely selfish and have no consideration to others thoughts and feelings. I have a lot of experience with them, my sister was a constant runaway she put me and my family through YEARS of hell because of her selfish behavior and not getting what she wanted. Yet, everytime she ran away, we just wanted her home and we wanted to know she was safe. I understand this families pain and worry, you just don't know if they will come back and they could have left for some stupid fight or because she felt she was treated unfair... or even worse. The thing is... there are other choices to running away. Running away is a bad choice, and it's dangerous. I wanted to post this because while I don't believe in what this girl has done, I do believe her parents and family want her back and I think we should all keep an eye out for the girl and help her to go back home safely.

My Mood: | | | Re: Ogletown girl, 15, missing since Tuesday I agree with you D.....When I first read the story on TNJ, my instant reaction was "I hope the police aren't dedicated too much in the way of resources to finding this brat." And while I still feel that way, I understand it must be gut-wrenching for the parents and the rest of the family - there are a lot of sick people out there that would do lots of bad things to a 15-year old girl.
Hopefully she comes to her senses, realizes that life at home may not be great but it's worse on the street, and gets her bratty ass home to the people that obviously love and care for her. A little family counseling might not be a bad idea either. |

I sure as hell wouldn't want to be in those parent's shoes tonight. What happens if this kid turns up dead? Are you going to say "that's a shame what happened to that selfish brat".

| | | Re: Ogletown girl, 15, missing since Tuesday No problem. I knew what you meant when I read your first post. Calling the runaways selfish, well, I thought was bad timing, that's all. Hey, I know how you feel. My sister "tried" to kill herself (pills) about 4 times when I was younger. I got to the point where I wanted to hand her a gun and say, "DO IT RIGHT THIS TIME". It's very painful and frustrating for all involved.
One more thing, don't be sorry at all. I came across the wrong way by saying "people" with only two posters. That's what I love about this group, we have a misunderstanding or disagreement and everybody responds like thinking adults. We get heated sometimes but nobody gets nasty. My Mood: | | | Re: Ogletown girl, 15, missing since Tuesday I live in an adjoining neighborhood to the family of this missing teen, and I hope they find her soon. Given that it's summertime, there are tons of people out and about, including groups of young teenagers walking around and doing whatever it is that young teenagers do. I hope that all the people who have seen her (a young girl with a red suitcase on foot seems like she would stand out...) come forward and help locate Ashlee!
I know all too well how the social network of young teenage girls works. Girls tend to cover for each other and lie to parents to protect each other - usually in situations involving boys. I can't assume this is the case with Ashlee, but if things haven't changed too much in the last decade there isn't much that goes on in a 15 year old's life that her friends don't know about.
