My Mood: | | | News Journal Censorship The news journal is censoring people who post to the online site. You can see your postings if you are logged in but not if you are logged out. I have gone thru 3 email addresses trying to get around this. I only get about one post before they shut me down. If you see 5 people have commented but can only see 3 postings, the other two are victims of this censorship.
Also, I have been picking up the Delaware county daily times and they are reporting the gas station across from Home Depot in claymont being robbed but I haven't seen anything about this in the news journal. Are they trying to make DE seem safer by not reporting on all the crimes?>
The apartments on Peachtree have armed, private, guards patrolling but i haven't seen anything about this either in the news journal. |

My Mood: | | | Re: News journal censorship Tracy's Gulf (the one in Claymont across from Homededo) has been robbed twice in the last month...I don't think either incident has made TNJ...Crossroads, which is in each Thursday's edition of TNJ has a much more comprehensive crime reporting section.
What's your point though? TNJ owns the boards and they have the right to "censor" when someone reports a post or when they detect a pattern of what they determine to be "abuse". They have been censoring since they started the open forums. The software they use today is much more versitile and allows them to selectively track users by placing a cookie on your machine (which is why you get only one post before they censor you).
Your welcome to spout off your views here though....
Cheers!

My Mood: | | | Re: News journal censorship TNJ never reported it when a store I worked for got robbed 6 years ago or so. I don't think it's a matter of censorship so much as it's a matter of space constraint.

My Mood: | | Re: News journal censorship If the News Journal chooses to censor their forum so what, it's their site, their business both literally and figuratively, they can do what they want. They're under no obligation to allow you (generally speaking) to post on their forum, and the same can be said for this or any website. It's not as if it's a Free Speech issue, and even if it were you might have the right to say whatever you want but you're not guaranteed an audience ...

My Mood: | | | Re: News Journal Censorship I guess what people are trying to say is that it doesnt matter where you post, it's not 'censorship' if the forum owner decides something doesn't fit in with general rules/values/ and Terms of Service of that forum. Intelligent and/or on-topic posts will usually stay anywhere, but posts that say things like "Dude you suck" or "Take your opinion and shove it" are considered 'flaming' and most forums, TNJ included, won't allow it. |

| | | Re: News Journal Censorship read the terms of service buddy, (I'm sure you didnt and most people don't) it's their site. Posts have been removed here, tough it's the admins discretion, not to mention his site. if your looking for someplace that you can just post whatever you want this aint it and I guess TNJ aint either. If they removed your posts there was a reason........trust me I know

You signed up and read the Terms of Service and it provided them the right to remove posts they feel aren't appropriate to the site. The First Amendment applies to government censorship of speech, not speech covered by private individuals who entered into a contract to use a privately-owned forum. | | The Following 2 Users Say Thank You to witchofthedogs For This Useful Post: | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
