| | | Hey everyone! Long time no talk...
I was wondering if everyone wouldn't mind sharing with me how much there electric bill was this month.
My husband shit a kitten at the amount of our bill this month but, I am holding tight to my belief that everyone's bill is that high if not higher.
Our bill for the month was $226 and some change.

| | | This past month it was $517 which is uncharacteristaclly high but we're in the latter stages on this huge addition and with as cold as it's been the new HVAC unit has been running with just an On/Off switch as opposed to with a Thermostat. Now mind you we're not home most days so the guys working here have been running it for warmth, lol, imagine that, that's been nipped in the bud however ... Oh and hey, what's shaking 5 Letters ?

| | | My heater was having issues for most of the last 3 months so I was pretty much relying on my gas fireplace and I was really shocked to see my bill. Even w/the heater off most of the time the combined bill for gas and heat was 295.00. Actually, I'm sure it would have been much worse if I didn't have my new windows. It's really amazing the difference they make.

| | | I have PPL. Bill was $201 (but I think I have like a $60 credit on it still).
Electric heat, keep the thermostats way down during the day.
Being that the house was redone, new windows, new siding, new walls and insulation (over the old walls and insulation. Dumbarses.)
Will be putting insulation under the house in the spring.
Not as bad as I thought it would be, but it isn't great, either.

Not as bad as I thought it would be, but it isn't great, either. The actual amount I had to pay was $170.00 because I over pay it every month. But, I did check what the usage was and it was the $226

| | | We're 3 stories, townhouse. About 1600 sq. feet.
Bill was $295.00.
We run a ceramic space heater in the baby's room, and one in the second level/living area. This in addition to the electric heat pump. My wife is home all day with the baby, so heat is constantly running, and the dryer runs about twice a day.
I can live with this in the winter. Especially since I have electric heat and don't have to purchase oil/gas in addition to electric. | | The Following User Says Thank You to Kid Lester For This Useful Post:

| | | I think my husband is having a hard time adjusting, our old house was a one story two bedroom tiny house! We now live in a split level, three bedroom much larger house.
When we lived in Middletown everything went through the city so every bill would include: electric, water, trash and sewer. These four things totalled about $150.00 a month. BUT we also had the oil heat.
I think it will just take him some getting used to. I was pretty familiar with what the bills would be because my parents have the same house as us.

| | | Okay, I pulled out my nemesis, the Delmarva bill.
Electric - $376.83
Gas - $177.35
I live in a 2 story (3 if you include the finished basement) monster that WASTES heat. Only 10 years old so still okay on the windows. Note to self - The vaulted ceilings look really great until you have to heat all that dead space in the house!
Actually not a bad bill. We run a hot tub also but keep it at 90 degrees unless we plan to use it, then we turn it up to 102.
Right now my dryer probably runs at least 20 hours a week. | | The Following User Says Thank You to mastiffmom For This Useful Post:

| | | Ah, the joys of compact living. We live in a single story, three bedroom, bungalow style home built in the early 1950s. The windows were last replaced in 1985 (they are on our list, because you can literally feel the cold seeping in) and in November and December we paid a little over $50. All other months we pay $170 on the budget plan, so since we'd overpaid, we got the credit split in the last two months. This is a combined bill gas/electric.
In total, we paid around $1800 for the year for all our energy. Not bad.
We use all energy efficient bulbs and as we slowly replace the major appliances, they'll be efficient as well. We set the thermostat at somewhere between 63 and 65, depending on how chilly I am that day. I don't mind wearing socks and snuggling under a warm blanket with a nice hot chocolate. Of course, I don't have kids. If I did, especially a baby, I'd have to crank it up a bit.
I'm still a fan of small homes. I think the urban Europeans have the right idea. Live in a space that suits your size. Collect less junk, save money, keep the planet a little greener. | | The Following User Says Thank You to Jessica For This Useful Post:
